All of the adventures can be played in whatever order you choose (aside from the ones that are in a series like Hoard of the Dragon Queen and Rise of Tiamat). I don't believe there is a predefined order you must play them in. But, I suppose an argument could be made that the order of the adventures in the Forgotten Realms canon is the order in which the adventures were released.
If I remember correctly, Tales from the Yawning portal is a collection of popular dungeons from the past of D&D.
My group will be starting Tomb of Annihilation as soon as we finish the phandelver campaign.
But I was at bookmans today, and someone asked me "are you guys doing the yawning portal first?"
So is ToA a standalone, or.. is is a secondary campaign (like hoard and tiamat) ?
My theory why you were asked that question is this: In Tales From the Yawning Portal, one of the dungeons is "The Tomb of Horrors", in which the villain is Acrerak in demilich form, whereas in Tomb of Annihilation, the villain is again Acrerak.

A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one.
Allright, thank you.
