First, I know it’s not really “One D&D” anymore, but no one’s told me a better name than “The Update,” so there you go. I also understand we haven’t really heard anything about how access, tools, and simple appearance will be for those of us that would like to continue as an Original 5e gamer. When I am running my campaign again, I would like to have my Master Subscription up and running, but not if WotC is going to make it unsightly or just plain awkward (even difficult) to use if you didn’t go for their cash grab. So, to sidestep the BS, does anyone know of a horses mouth we can interrogate on Twitch, Discord, or wherever, on how we the gaming community should expect things to go? I’ve really put a lot on DDB which I never have before, and losing DDB’s convenience would make me have to abandon this rules system. Anybody have a clue or idea on this? I know I can’t be the only one wondering.

Right now Wizards is making the intelligent choice to say nothing. We are still months and months away from release, with plenty of time for things to change during the development of D&D Beyond integration.
Wizards likely has an idea of what they want to do with Beyond—but they have not even finished making the new rules system yet (a new round of playtest content was released just this past week). That is going to be their priority right now, and things like website design are going to take a back seat until then—after all, they cannot really finalise the systems here until they have finalised what the game systems will be so those can be programmed into Beyond. As anyone who has ever followed extra-early press releases for software knows, often times saying something early is incredibly foolish—either you are forced to deliver something it turns out is not really the right answer, or you pivot and catch flack for changing something (even if it probably needed to change). Wizards is making the smart decision to say nothing for the time being, waiting until they themselves are fully confident in their plans.
So, regardless of where you might ask, the answer will be silence, at least for now. As we get closer to release, we will likely begin to know more.
Personally, I am operating under the assumption they will use the same (or similar) Legacy system that is already in place. They already put effort into programming that and creating toggles to turn it off—generally speaking, companies do not like to design systems they cannot make the most out of. Progression is still an open issue, but Beyond has plenty of toggles thus far for things like Tasha’s, so they clearly have some way to backend alternate progression models they could build off of.
All told, you’ll have to wait for real information, and nothing you can do will change that waiting. That said, there exist systems within Beyond itself that indicate what paths they may take and build upon, so there is sufficient reason to gamble on continued functionality post-release.

Thanks @Caerwyn_Glyndwr. So we’re still at the “Sometime in 2024 but don’t expect it early? I guess I’ll have to work with the Legacy system a bit and see how that actually looks. Wasn’t a fan of my Fiend Folio books getting labeled as “Legacy” even before I purchased Monsters of the Multiverse, and I’d be more than offended at having that be an even wider scale thing. Nothing at you, irked at what’s happened and at what *might* happen.
BTW, are they taking any suggestions or ideas for feedback on how people would actually like to see their material and tools? The appearance by itself could become a real issue for me.

They're not actually your books, what you purchased was a license to access them. Hence them being allowed to append "Legacy" labels, alter the contents etc.
