Since the Dragon+ app has been discontinued does anyone know if the content was made available anywhere else.
Given the fact it was free and could be saved locally from the app this seems like it would be freely distributable but maybe there were disclaimers in the app.
Either way, don't know why WotC wouldn't add the content to their site as they paid to have it created and now it's not doing them any good being in limbo. {sigh}
They may in the future, but odds are good it is dead. The role of Dragon+ has been taken over by the front age of this site, and we can probably expect to see some things change a little as One D&D development winds down over the next 13 to 18 months. Print magazines, as a whole, are consistently fading, and digital formats are ever narrowing. Even trade Journals are deeply affected, and they are the least touched by such things.
Personally, I think one of the greatest mistakes they have made was when they made it entirely in-house driven and it became the PR/marketing tool they used. I think they should return to Dragon+ as a digital app, link it to DDB, and then once again allow for solicitations from the general public, as Dragon and Dungeon did during their peak years. That community input helped to grow the game and provided an outlet and development tool for game designers and creators, as well as an additional resource for fiction.
It is unlikely, of course -- WotC supplies too much of Hasbro's operating capital, and Hasbro's corp culture isn't conducive to enabling IP from outside contractors, even if the initial cost to them is net zero. But a decent magazine staff is still a run of about 250k just in salaries, so likely 350 with hosting and related services, and the direct value from such a product is only really measured in general goodwill, which looks piss poor on a balance sheet.
A subscription price to cover those costs, right now, would, of course, enrage the general population ("Yet another attempt by Wizards to suck the money out of us! IT should be part of the site!") because the general population has no freaking clue about what it speaks (as demonstrated less than admirably consistently on this site in these forums and comments to the articles).
So I don't expect it to be something we will see, in any form, for a good while. If I was to do a D&D themed business, I would look at it as an opportunity, but that's a long slog and I'm too old and cranky to be the one to do it, lol.

I believe that the DMsGuild is doing this
You mean apart from "here, buy this for free" in a product listing?
Do they have a magazine that curates things and produces them? If so, that would be a reason for me to give a damn about them -- because a product store that isn't curated and just sells whatever is not what I was talking about, and has zero interest for me (though I might try to sell cultures there next year).
Offering the stuff as products is not the same thing.

There was some specific content I am looking for that I had downloaded locally onto a Android tablet that has long since died.
All the good discussion about where things are trending and where they will release new content is a discussion in and of itself.
I am most interested in retrieving free content that has already been released and I had actually downloaded previously.
Don't know if this is something that could potentially be out in the wild somewhere (Internet Archive, torrents, some other venue). I don't advocate piracy but sometimes I have turned to the tools of piracy to gain material that was public domain or that I already had rights to that I could not find any other place..
Also, I am not implying if this is free material even though it was freely accessible. There could be licensing that ties it to it's limited distribution channels and if thats the case I will stop searching but if it is out there and legally obtainable I am hoping someone may know and can point a finger in the right direction.

ah, in that case, no it isn’t available.
they said as much when they announced the end, that the content was not going to be released.
