Will there be a toggle under character creation for resources so I can turn off new edition features that I am not interested in using? Not wanting to put down any changes, I have been playing since the late 1970's, but in my stage of life, I am just not interested in another edition.
Honestly, regardless of what the devs claim, One D&D definitely feels like a new edition. Sure, adventures may be more readily convertible, but I think the point is that we're gonna get 3 new core rulebooks and countless new changes next year.
Anyways, using this technicality - even if it theoretically were widely agreed with (Which it doesn't seem to be) - to give a non-answer to a request for a feature that was clearly and understandably referencing something they wanted due to the modifications coming from One D&D just seems a bit odd to me.

What is One DND and all the Unearthed Arcana for then? 2024 was supposed to produce new core books.
One D&D was three things (was because the term has been depreciated):
A revised set of core rule books
A digital play experience
Integrating D&D Beyond into Wizards of the Coast
The first bullet point is relevant to your question; the 2024 revised Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide and Monster Manual are fifth edition rulebooks. They're not a new edition, they're books for this edition for the game. They will add new revised and optional rules for D&D fifth edition in the exact way that Xanathar's Guide to Everything and Tasha's Cauldron of Everything does, except on a much bigger scale. Instead of providing a variant rule for falling, there'll now be a variant version of all the base classes for example.
But it's not a new edition; your current books will be compatible with the revised core rulebooks.
I hope they'll be the only one revised books till official new edition. It seems a new edition in my mind, a masked one maybe, i can't imagine the full compatibility with all the released products of the same edition.
Given the clarification on the truth that it's not a new edition can you answer the intent of OP's question regarding the toggle on/off.
I kinda presume that the 'toggle' would be "If you buy the book the rules show up, if you don't... they don't." meaning people who don't want to update are set by doing nothing.

Me? I'm buying.
Assuming the OP is referring to the revised rulebooks and not some rumour that 6th edition or whatever is coming, I can't confirm anything beyond that which has already been announced and as far as I'm aware, nothing has been announced pertaining to specific implementation on D&D Beyond
I'd imagine that, upon character creation, you'd probably be given the option of whether you'll be using the 5e or the 1DD of the character class... I'd also imagine that DM's starting a game can decide whether they'll allow 5e, 1DD, or both in that game.

There isn't a new edition announced to be coming

Probably. But we won’t know for sure until 5e revised is released.

So no new edition, but we'll need to buy them as new?
These will be new books that you will need to purchase, yeah. Much like Xanathar's, Tasha's, Monster of the Multiverse etc
