So I've created a Level 2 Druid, and the PHB says my 'Prepared Spells' = Wisdom Modifier + Druid Level.
My Wisdom is +4 so I should be able to Prepare 6 spells.
At Level 2 I have 2xCantrips and 3x1st level Spell slots. (Plus I'm playing a Tiefling so I already know Thaumaturgy.)
But when I tried to add spells to my character sheet, Dnd Beyond only let me enter 2xCantrips, 1x'Bonus Cantrip', (plus thaumaturgy later) and 2x1st level spells.
So I'm wondering, even if I have 3 spell slots for 1st level do my extra 'Known / Prepared spells' have to be Cantrips?
Side note I also couldn't choose Circle of the Moon as a Druid. For some reason I could only choose Land Circles?
Cantrips do not count as prepared spells. They are in addition to your prepared spells.
Spell slots tell you how many times you can use your prepared spells, they have nothing to do with how many spells you can prepare.
D&D Beyond does not let you choose anything outside of the basic rules unless you have paid D&D Beyond for that right (Or someone in your game has shared it with you)
Agreed, 6 prepared spells is right, regardless of which rules you have access to. Remember to make your sheet public in the character settings so we can see it.
The Basic Rules do not cover all the subclasses in the Player's Handbook. If you hover over the Sources tab at the top of the page, you can see that they are separate menu items in the dropdown and only Basic Rules are captioned as Free.

I would surmise it hadn't updated your Wisdom modifier while you were creating the sheet. Once you closed it out it probably did and that allowed you to edit it correctly.
Basic rules does not mean the entire content of PHB. Basic rules means free content. That's why I recommend that you have PHB and DMG for a lot of moves that you will make.
Sorry to necro a year old thread, but I have a similar problem in that I just leveled up from 11 to 12 with my wizard, so I should have one more prepared spells slot right? It's level (12) plus Int modifier (5) right? But I only have 16 spells and 5 cantrips for 21 total, and it won't let me prepare any more, it's just greyed out on the Learn in my spell book. Is this an error or am I misunderstanding something basic?
Can you link to your character, making sure that it's made public? Without that, we're just guessing in the dark.

Are you using the 2014 or 2024 version of the Wizard class?
In the 2014 version, the number of prepared spells is equal to your wizard level plus your intelligence modifier, as you say. In the 2024 version, it's a flat number defined in the big table of class features for each level. (The same is true for all spellcasting classes in the 2024 rules.) At level 12, it's 16 prepared spells, regardless of your intelligence modifier.
Cantrips aren't included in the number of prepared spells in either version.
99% sure it's the 2014 version. Should be public now.
This is the 2024 version of the Wizard class. You can tell by the fact that it has the class features Ritual Adept and Scholar, which are only in the 2024 version.
If you want to use the 2014 version of the Wizard class, make sure that "2014 Core Rules" is checked in the Home tab of the character builder, then go to the Class tab, remove the class that's selected, and select the 2014 version instead. You'll need to scroll down to a lower section to find it.

You happened to see it while I was still editing the character to fix it, it was just that it was the 2024 rules not 2014. I'm all good now, thanks everyone.
Are you using the website or the app? The mobile app is flaky sometimes.
A combination really, I try to stick to the website but sometimes I'm away from the PC when I need to edit things or play. It's all good now, but yeah that app is kinda bad.

But this isn't outside of the Basic rules is it? I mean it says it in The Players Handbook.
If I have 3 Spell Slots and and can prepare up to 6 different spells, I should be able to include more than 2 spells on my character sheet right?
I am so confused -_-
You should be able to prepare 6 different spells. I do not know why that is happening. Can you link to the sheet?

OMG I figured it out. For some reason I couldn't add more spells when I was creating the Character sheet but I can edit it now, so I think we're good.
Don't know what happened there :|

I'm an idiot, can't believe I did that. Thanks, I'll fix it now.
