Personally I don't remember it saying digital-only. I was picking with a fine toothcomb with respect to the prequel adventure (because I wanted that and only pre-ordered to get it), and I was under the impression I'd get it in late May.
Human memory can be fickle, including mine, so I could be wrong. But the impression I was under was I wouldn't be getting early access.

Chiming in to say that I do distinctly remember early access being listed among the benefits of pre-ordering the digital-only version, and the early access was a major factor in placing the pre-order. The issue with the link from the week before the marketplace change is that it no way resembles the page I saw when I placed my pre-order in March. There is no mention of the digital dice, frames, or backgrounds, which were also listed in the benefits for the pre-order.
Very disappointed in this whole par-for-the-recent-course debacle. I'm definitely unlikely to ever bother pre-ordering anything again, and almost certainly will never purchase physical product directly.
"The Vecna: Eve of Ruin release date is May 21, 2024. However, those who preorder the Eve of Ruin digital version get early access starting May 7. That includes those who bought the Vecna: Eve of Ruin special edition Physical + Digital bundle. "
I have seen several DMs from starplaying posting in the forums as well regarding.
While you can't support "Unofficial Marketing Partners" . I find it strange that all of us + all of these outlets got it extremely wrong and yet exactly the same.

too late isn't good enough tho. there are people who specifically bought the digital version for the pre order "early access" that was misleading advertising.

I truly thank you for this. I recognize it's a bit too little, too late for it, but we're working to get these corrected.
If the fix is to update the reporting based on information that WotC provided to their advertising partners and not to grant the early access to digital only pre-orders, then I would officially like to request a cancellation of my pre-order.
I was just told officially through my support ticket (Incident 3875347 Purchased. Not accessible) basically F off. Really really glad wotc / hasbro is celebrating 50years by burning it all to the ground. There is no point to pre-purchase digitally if we don't get early access.
"Greetings,
We appreciate your quick response. Looking at your account, it appears that digital version of Vecna: Eve of Ruin was purchased.
Early Access is available for Physical & Digital bundle orders placed prior to April 30th, 2024 via the D&D Store. For more information about Pre-Orders, please see: Pre-Order FAQ.
We sincerely appreciate your feedback. It's important that your voice is heard and we assure you that requests of this nature are particularly important to our company as we strive to build a better experience for you.

Not going to take out frustration on D&D Beyond customer support staff, but this really is scummy. I pre-ordered Eve of Ruin all the way back in February (2/12) based on getting the early access and the Eldritch Eye adventure.
We had this same debacle for Glory of the Giants. (Fool me twice...shame on me...)
All it says to the customers is to never pre-order and wait on reviews. Marketing blurbs said that digital pre-orders would get early access today.
If that's not true, don't let journalists misrepresent your products by printing outright lies, and be clear and explicit about products yourselves, on your website.
I was already not getting physical products after the License fiasco last year. Now I'm not pre-ordering anything ever again. Welcome to the same realm as video game developers, WotC.
The links all say that preordering the book provided early access to the digital copy on May 7. None of them stated that pre-ordering the digital only copy provided early access. The CBR link even calls out the physical + digital bundle.
I posted a wayback machine image earlier and it clearly shows that a digital only pre-order will release on May 21.
On wayback, view the April 18 version of the page. That is how I took the screen capture shown above.
As you stated, the Wayback image is from April 18th. Those of us who ordered for the early access with the digital-only pre-order seem to all or mostly placed our pre-orders prior to that date. My order was placed March 21st, and I spent a lot of time deciding on whether or not to pre-order. The early access was the deciding factor. I would have no reason to pre-order it otherwise, as I would receive access to it on the normal release date as part of campaign sharing from one of my DM's.

The wayback marketplace featured page from March 26 only lists May 21 as the release date for digital only.
Overall, I have real problems with the marketplace changes as it is not tagging books that I did purchase as owned but all the pages I can find about Vecna is showing the May 21 date for digital only.
Ok. The earliest I can find is from February 14. It states available May 7 for digital preorders. This is a wayback capture so it would not be changed after the fact.

I know you posted somewhere the wayback machine but you need to go before April. I purchased 3/3 and I know it was there on that day.

Additionally, I think the farthest back the wayback machine goes for the Vecna preorder page is March 6th, and that wouldn't load for me. :/

The pre-order page for digital did not say it gave early access. In fact, it listed release of May 21. https://imgur.com/a/3FgBEN3

100% im done with any promises from WoTC. they have thrown away any good will. no preorders because what's the point you get nothing
Digital only pre-orders did not grant early access. I just posted the wayback image showing that digital preorder release date was May 21.
That link you posted goes straight to the new market place, not the original marketplace before the change on 4.30.24.
Which is strange as that has not been my experience on that site, but I haven't used it in a few years before today.

It still lists May 21 on the wayback for March 7.
Now do March 6, which is when I preordered.
as spelled out here they have no issue changing information after the fact:
