Is there a way of getting extra frames and backgrounds similar to the ones you got by preordering Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes and the like? The reason I ask is I started using DnD Beyond after the release of Xanathar's Guide to Everything so missed the chance to get those ones. I'm just wondering what they look like and if there is any other way to get them.
While they're a nice little bennie for pre-purchasing, they're not exactly must-haves. 9/10 times I feel like none of the frames or backdrops actually suit my character anyway. And several of them get in the way of the text or the image which is annoying. So it's not like you're missing out on much.

I expect that there will be more on offer for pre-ordering / purchasing the next D&D release.
I'm curious why none of the people in my campaign, with full content sharing on, can't use any of the frames, backgrounds, or other cosmetic perks I've unlocked for my account?

Because they're not something to be shared. It's just a free bonus specifically for you as a thanks for pre-ordering content.

I concur, it would be nice to have the option to get those bonuses for preorder. I only recently started with Beyond, so there are a LOT that I've missed. I did preorder Wildemount and got the additional backgrounds, which look FANTASTIC in my opinion. Even seeing them, one of my friends is holding out until the book in actually released so he can get more familiar with the actual content. Though, he realizes he will likely never get those additional backgrounds, he figures waiting to see if the content is what he really wants is worth the sacrifice. For me, seeing the bonuses with that makes me want the bonuses from previous releases. So, I get that. I just doubt that would ever happen since it gives an incentive to preorder...which would kinda be wasted if we all got access to the same bonus content after the fact.
BadEye has shared on previous dev update streams that there is an intent to do this.
As you say there are lots of cool character sheet customisation options that are completely unavailable to those who are newer to D&D Beyond.
I don't know exactly how we'll implement it, because we want those options to still be a cool and special reward for pre-ordering, but we also want them to be available to others who missed that pre-order period.
I trust that our content team will find a great way of doing this and we'll announce it when we have. 🙂
I just wish they'd do what everyone else does: as a pre-order bonus it's free, after that you can just buy it. Simple, easy, adds revenue. Win-win.

Sure, I guess all I'm asking is that if Campaigns allow Content Sharing, that they allow *all* of the content to be shared, including the art customizations.
I can say that If I am making a purchase for some additional content, I would be happy to throw in a couple extra bucks to grab some portrait frames or BGs that I missed by not being around during the release of the other books. Seems like a win-win (like someone else was saying). The people who have them still have them for free, and those of us that missed them can throw a little extra scratch at DnDBeyond.

Why not simply allow them as separate purchase options to people who buy the content now? If you ore-purchase, you get them for free, otherwise you can buy them separately. Should be a win/win.

Suggestion: Recolors or non-animated versions for purchase post-launch. Preserves the uniqueness of the pre-order AND gives new people the ability to get in on the fun.
Yeah, I'm totally cool with missing out on some stuff since I missed the pre-orders, but I think there is also an opportunity for a little extra revenue on the cosmetic stuff. I'd happy cough up a few bucks for some cosmetic options on my character sheets.

Although they can't see them, if you are the DM you can edit sheets and apply them yourself, the players just can't do it directly. They will see it after applied, they just don't have access to the options.

A dev video made me sad because they had a bunch of cool frames from books that I own, but when I checked, I didn't have the frames. Then I learned that I can't get them. I understand nothing is final, so I'm staying hopeful. I realize that in this situation there are things to consider.
Kickbacks for pre- vs. post-release sales.
Legalese. (Who makes the frames, who owns the frames, who gets paid how much from who...)
How much of DDB's pre-release revenue do they feel is attributable to the frames vs. how much could they make if they sold them separately from the book for an additional $5? Free with pre-order, or a separate $5 upon release?
Holiday sale! Frame sets, $5/book for the rest of 2020! Take my money! Let DDB bury 2020 for us all under a stack of money.
I bought the Legendary Bundle and was very sad to learn that it didn’t come with any of the frames, backgrounds, etc. That definitely seems like a feature that should’ve been included for customers willing to drop that kind of money.
At any rate, making these available for purchase seems like a no brainer. I doubt anyone who has them currently would really be upset that others had access as well. And it’s a great financial opportunity for DnDB. Guarantee people will continue to preorder to receive them for free. Plus the additional revenue from those who buy later.
I find it strange that they dont just give those who have at least Master Subscription access to all currently developed frames, backgrounds, ect.
I pay $6/month and thus giving more consistent money along with other book purchases as a DM. The least they could do as a multi million dollar company is to give those out to Elite and Master subs. Perhaps this is something we as the community can push for. Just a thought.

Below are screen grabs of what the additional options look like on the menu. The Animated Fishbowl frame is cute, a little distracting, but cute.

What if you guys offer them as purchaseable add-ons, like with the Digital Dice?
