So i paid a long time ago for certain books here on Beyond and now i go to Fighter in the 2014 Players Handbook and the Battle Master portion is gone. Why?
Did you maybe have it via content sharing in a campaign you're no longer in?
Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
Check what D&D Beyond thinks you own -- go to https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources and limit to Library. As long as you own the PHB it should show up, it shows for me.
Same here. I own 2014 PHB. But character doesnt show Battle Master as an option.
Make sure you've created a 2014 Fighter and not a 2024 Fighter. The older version is further down the list. If you've created a 2024 by accident and only have the free rules then Battle Master won't appear

You're right that most bows and crossbows lack finesse or light, but rogues are proficient with simple weapons, and shortbows fall under that category—so they can use them without needing a feat
