With regard to Hexblade, the only thing that is redundant is the CHA to attacks and damage. Almost all other features are not present in the 2024 base class: armor and shield proficiency, spell list, hexblade's curse, etc.
What was killed was making it a worthwhile dip.
You misspelled subclass.
I said class. And I meant class.
You typed "worthwhile dip" but clearly meant "worthwhile subclass"
The Hexblade was and still is one of the best gishes in the game, they’re so much more than just a single change to which stat you use (which they can still get anyway)
Im a bit confused by the spell section. It lists New spells, and renamed spells, but then a few spells from each book? I dont get what those are. Changed in phb 2024? legal? not legal? I dont see why they are listed out by book since the previous section said all spells not listed in phb 2024 are legal...

Those are spells which were originally in other books but which have been included in the 2024 PHB. The intention is that you would use the 2024 version if you’re using the 2024 PHB, even if you have access to the older version. Any spells which are in other books but have not been updated remain current and should (hopefully) be playable as is.
And what if we want to use parts of 2024 character options on 2014 characters?
If you had a video game, and wanted to use stuff from an update without updating your game, I think you would have to probably figure it out yourself. (Or with dm in this case) lol
Im still not sure how I should treat the Bonus Proficiencies for the Twilight Domain subclass 🤔
In the 2024 Class you get Divine Order and must choose between Protector (you gain proficiency) and Thaumaturge (extra cantrtrip + bonus to Intelligence checks). Given that you can get both when using the 2014 subclass I would say just remove the Bonus Proficiency from the subclass.
You basically have the same problem with the Level 7: Blessed Strikes and the 8th-level Devine Strike for the Twilight Domain. However, here the 2024 rules explicitly state what you should do when you use a subclass from an older book. Basically, ignore the feature from the subclass and just use Blessed Strikes. Quote: "You gain one of the following options of your choice (if you get either option from a Cleric subclass in an older book, use only the option you choose for this feature)."
Why is such a sentence not on the Devine Order description? Intentionally left out or did they miss it? What would you do with the Bonus Proficiency, my players are now level 6 and only one of them is using an older subclass. I only spottet that he could basically double dip just now.

I just figured that out and came to edit :D
Thanks, rough morning here.
Thank you!
