Are we not doing the gem dragons from Fizbans in the new 2024 edition? I do not see them listed on the options or in the players handbook. Perhaps i missed where they decided to remove them... Or is Fizban staying as Expanded Rules? Why do that when you are publishing the new edition and books....

As far as I can tell Gem Dragonborn are not standard. I also couldn't find them at all in the Compendium when I was looking for them which seems to be a major oversight

Fizban's should still be part of the expanded rules. This is not a new edition. It is an update to the core books of the current edition. That means that anything that's not updated is still the rules.
I get that its still included in the rules, but in my mind, as you are publishing the new book, why wouldn't you include the gem dragons in the list with the metallic and chromatic choices for dragonborns.
There are a LOT of items that need to get updated to the new 2024 system, and I anticipate a LOT of books similar to TCoE, MotM, etc. to get more items brought up to be compatible with the new 2024 system.
Breathe, dragons; sing of the First World, forged out of chaos and painted with beauty. Sing of Bahamut, the Platinum, molding the shape of the mountains and rivers; Sing too of Chromatic Tiamat, painting all over the infinite canvas. Partnered, they woke in the darkness; partnered, they labored in acts of creation.

mountain out of a molehill I am sure.
Presumably for the same reason they didn't carry over the alt powers of Metallics or Chromatics; they were reproducing the PHB Dragonborn stats with a few tweaks, not exporting secondary content when there's already a primary to reference.
I definitely feel that the Fizban's dragonborn shouldn't have been marked as legacy. 2024 could have represented a more generic dragonborn, while Fizban's could have remained functioning as the option for people wanting to specialise into a particular ancestry and dragon type.
I know most peoples groups will let them continue to play gem dragonborn, but marking the option as legacy is essentially telling players they shouldn't be playing gem dragonborn anymore, without offering a replacement.
It doesn’t make business sense from the WOtC side to put a very thing into the first new book of a series they want to sell books from for the next 10+ years. Yes, from our side it would be great to get it all in one but then the game would die and we would all be moaning about the lack of books having killed the game.

I hope that isn't the case. I love half orcs but I don't like orcs so.
I always use half orcs.
id be pissed if they tried to say I couldn't play em any more.
I am mixed race so I always related to the difficulty of being in two worlds culturally.
so I was annoyed when people said they shouldn't have half orcs.
its supposed to be backwards compatible so we should get a redo before they mark legacy.

Greetings DCD1123,
I'm assuming that Gem Dragons will be released in the new Dragon book that D&D announced in the D&D Direct Video announcement.
Currently they are calling the book The Dragon Anthology (working title).

Hope they redo dragon monk and drake rider in those books
