Yo! now that the PHB has been out for a little why on earth did they give the warlock an option for a 3rd attack? but not the Barb, Ranger, Paladin, or monk? they gave the full-ish caster a 3rd attack. i dont get in on a design choice level
It's probably because the blade-pact warlock doesn't get all the things that regular melee classes do. No weapon masteries, no armor proficiency, etc. If you want to get people to play their full casters as melee fighters, they need something to make it worth the effort.
Also, they don't get any extra attacks for free -- they have to take invocations to get them.
So I’m new to dnd but I don’t understand what would be so wacky, max level in dnd is 20 so you can easily get fighter to 11 and then get another lets say ranger to 5, why not just let the ranger fighter have 4 attacks? Yes theyd have to rebalance some things to make that not so op, but other classes would have access to 3, fighter would still just get one more.
The extra attack features of the various classes don't stack. Basic Extra Attack says "you get to make two attacks instead of one", and similarly for the improved ones. Doesn't matter how many times you have such a feature; they all set the number of attacks you get for taking the attack action to two.

they may not get what the others get but they are still a full caster with spells to back them up and buff them

Explain how getting those multiple attacks are comparable to the Martials and the benefits they get by virtue of being Martial classes?

Warlocks are not full caster, they're pact casters. They have a lot fewer spell slots to throw around, and bladelocks in particular have to weigh casting a spell vs a use of Eldritch Smite. Plus the lack of armor makes trying to hold a buff in melee tricky for a bladelock- it takes a lot of resource investment to help them hold concentration when they're opening themselves up to a lot of attacks per round.

Im finding it funny you’re lumping Monks in with the others. Lack of attacks per round has never been an issue with a class pretty much built around multiple attacks per turn.
Plus as others have said Warlocks aren’t even close to full casters, at the level they get a third attack they’ve got three spell slots total. Thats less than an Eldritch Knight Fighter at the same level without the benefit of the Fighter’s heavy armour and weapon masteries

thats fair warlocks dont get 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th, level spells and their 4 spell slots are only casted at 5th level they may not be full casters but they have full casters power

A warlock isn't really a full caster. They literally have 2 spell slots most of their life. Unless you are lucky to have a DM who ends up with a lot of short rests.

the warlocks also have invocations that can do alot more then any martial

then i guess that would make them in line with most full casters

Not really; they don’t get a second 6th or 7th slot, and they can only know one spell per level from 6th to 9th, and since they don’t have actual slots for those levels there’s no upcasting.
Yeah, Warlock is more like a half-caster to my mind. Similar spell progression and very limited slots. It makes it up in other ways, but it's not really a full caster.

Warlock is a weird caster. They're closer to full in power level, but half in how often they can exercise it.
Although that depends on your encounter day and short rest frequency. For long days with rests, they get more fifth level slots than anyone else by a mile.
Yeah, with the ‘24 update adding the refresh feature they’ve got plenty in the tank if there’s several encounters and at least one SR in a day. Biggest remaining thing is their high end clout and flexibility fall behind a bit, but they’ve got enough other toys to make it a different experience, not a strictly worse one.

Of which they have to invest 3 to reach 3 attacks per round. Warlock is an amateur who uses powers granted by their patron to speed their strikes, IF they forego other uses for their invocations. They lack hit points, armor, weapon selection, weapon masteries, multiple feat selections. Plus, on top of all of that you are probably still better off using Eldritch Blast most of the time.
