DDB is adding a new class from MCDM! Finally! New classes! I didn’t see an article yet, so here’s a little discussion thread until we get one
The Illrigger huh? Has anybody heard anything about this class? Or do they own it?
I just checked and I don't see any such class added to the DDB roster. Are you sure it isn't a 3rd party?
It is third party, from MCDM the same guys that wrote Flee Mortals. We’re just excited because it’s the first time since the Blood Hunter they’ve added a non-WotC class and it sets a precedent for other third party stuff in the future

I am happy because I missed new classes in 5e after the artificer. I hope this was an opened door and we can enjoy the arrival of more classes, for example the beastheart and the talent by the same publisher.
But I wonder the possible impact of the Talent class by MCBM if WotC had got some plan for the updated psionic mystic.
If new classes by other 3PPs are coming soon, I would like someone about summoning (collectable) monsters. There are some titles in my mind.
I think you can flavor it as an anti hero like Ghost Ridein Marvel. But you do have a patron Arch Devil that could on occassion demand you follow a mission or act for it.
if it was something that would work well for a setting I was running, sure. But, in general, i find the class lackluster, and would probably create a form of my own. Also, 15 bucks is half the price of a book on the site -- i spent 30 bucks on a PHB that has a lot more classes, and it is way pricier than the 5 bucks for the older bit and piece stuff.
very much not worth it, to me -- though other folks may find it really compelling and totally cool, and more power to them. grimdark that crap if you wanna.
I prefer hopepunk.

TBF, the PHB is the foundation book is generally the best value book for character creator content. The Ill-Rigger comes with a bunch of other stuff (mostly magic items, 194, although a fair number of those are repeats, plus 8 spells and 5 Subclasses). It's not terrible value. However, given that I can't see what the Subclass (or spells or magic items) are like and the theme seems to be incoherent with the other classes...$15 seems a lot to risk on it.

If you're not willing or able to to discuss in good faith, then don't be surprised if I don't respond, there are better things in life for me to do than humour you. This signature is that response.
I have seen mixed reviews so far. A lot of "it's OP and steps on too many toes" and "It's amazballs" or "Colville can't do anything wrong/right". So the internet being the internet. I lean toward skeptical about anything 3rd Party and while I do like Warlocks, a knight serving hell might be a bit too edgelord even for me.
I like the class. Playing a dark/evil character doesn't make a person an "edge lord". Some of us are just tired of always playing the hero/good character and actually like the change of pace.
Ditto. Least they could do while they're flooding us with OP third party content is let us build our own homebrew properly. They obviously have the tools to add classes and feats, but won't open it to users.
I absolutely can't stand the name and that keeps me from even wanting to try them. (Would "Hellknight" have been so bad? "Illrigger" sounds like a seasick sailor.)

Beyond didn't name it.
Complain to MCDM if you must.
Also, the whole "Let us make our own classes" thing is a backend issue, and is probably going to be the last of the cleanup planned for this year, if it happens at all, according to multiple AMAs and the DND Discord.
I personally don't wish for Beyond's homebrew section to turn into DNDWiki, but I understand where the urge comes from.

I don't expect homebrew classes. Even if they make tools to let them do it more easily than it is now, homebrew classes force the existence of dependencies in the homebrew, which significantly complicates things.

With the Hellspeaker's Honey Sweet Blades, does that stack with extra attack? Or is it just one of those attacks gets to crit?
I believe the wording specifies a singular attack and not the entirety of an attack action.

Invoke Hell says you need to take a short / long rest to use the feature again.
HSB by itself only cares of you hit a target with a seal on it the one time you use it.
Meh.

What? No Cania or Mephistopheles?!?

yeah, this is how I feel.
And not worth $15.

The illrigger is a good example of just how hard designing DnD is.
It feels like you gathered the 100 best sports stars to make an 11 player team and are afraid to cut any, so you bribe the ref to field all 100.
The premise is just fine, but honestly - could've simply been a subclass for Paladin and it would've been much more balanced.

With homebrew subclasses and feats, it basically already is. So much for that.
