I'm new to D&D and I'm unsure how this site exactly works. If I were to buy a physical copy of the Player's Handbook, would it include a barcode to unlock the information/tools on this site? Or would I be expected to buy a digital copy as well?
I'm old so I always prefer a book I can hold in my hand and take along with me. Though you can find pretty much all the info you need online with a quick search.
There is absolutely no way to uniquely identify D&D 5e books the way they are currently printed. Maybe 6e or future books will "bundle" the physical and digital, but none of the current books do or have unique identifiers.

The hardcover purchase does not give you any right on the corresponding digital product. See the Pricing FAQ for more info.
Not quite the answer I was hoping for, but thanks for the quick response.
I prefer to have a physical copy so it's easier to look things up. I use digital for campaign setting though.
