Good question - check with your DM. The description doesn’t say so it’s pretty much a DM decision. Personally I would have the blade disappear until either they regain consciousness or someone else attuned to the blade.
Like all Weapons that require Attunement they will follow these Attunement Rules.
On that page under the Ending Attunement section, it states that Attunement ends when any of the following conditions are met:
Item is more than 100 feet away for over 24 hours.
Death.
Someone else Attunes to the item.
Hope this helps...
Cheers!
I think the question is not about attunement, but about whether the weapon's blade would remain active if the owner fell unconscious. The item description doesn't say anything one way or another, and the only way described to turn off the blade is for the wielder to use a bonus action to do it. So, under the Rules As Written, nothing happens to it when the wielder falls unconscious; it remains on if it was on, or off if it was off.
It is pretty much up to the DM, like most things. That means you as the DM you get to make up the functions not specified and change ones that are if so inclined.
An example that I did for the sake of cool, was the paladin had a Sunblade and fell unconscious while shielding some civilians from some undead. The werewolf that felled him went to another target, but since it was such a strong roleplay action, the I ruled that he was holding his sword aloft and keeping the vampire spawn and wraiths at bay while he was rolling death saves. It faltered when the Paladin failed his last deathsave, but the warlock grabbed it before it hit the ground. I decided to Bypass some normal attunement rules and say the Warlock attuned to it right away, keeping it lit. I narrated.
" You can still feel Paladin with you, guiding your hand." it was cool and dramatic, it broke the rules only a little, and it wasn't against the item's description.

If the owner falls dead or unconcious, what happens to the sunlight blade?

Greetings Doktor57,
I assume you are referring to the Sun Blade?

Oops! Yes, the Sun Blade.
