Recently I have been playing a character that acquired a Bag of Holding, and as I am adventuring I have been gathering many different items which is great. The only issue is that when I want to find something in my bag, it is a LOT to scroll through.
Today I tested using some characters before the names of items and found that D&D Beyond will reorder the items I added to the bag based on what character I added to the front of the name.
Primarily I wanted something that would move specific items to the end of the list so they are all grouped together to reference later (in this case parts of creatures I collected).
I found that adding an 'underscore' to the beginning of the name of the item moved it to the bottom of the list of items within the BoH, which is perfect for what I needed, but I wanted to test others.
I found that other symbols will order themselves at the beginning of the list but no mater the value that comes after, they stay in that particular order. These symbols, and the order they are displayed are: * (Asterick) + (Plus) -(Hyphen) .(Period) =(Equal)
Here is an example Screen Shot to show you what I am referring to:
For those of you that have LOT of items in your BoH, I hope this helps :)
Cheers!

Sing of Bahamut, the Platinum, molding the shape of the mountains and rivers; Sing too of Chromatic Tiamat, painting all over the infinite canvas. Thanks for the idea cybermind - that will work great for my Belts of Many Pouches. 10 pouches on the belt, each with 10 magic subpouches. It was a 4e item that I have folks use the Bag of Holding then customize it (5# weight,50# max, change name) now I can use your numbering system to show which subpouch something is in. Great idea.

I just use numbers. 01 - Dagger, 02 - Staff, etc.
