I have been able to make a number of homebrew items, but this one is alluding me.
I wish to make a create an items similar to a portable hole or bag of holding, but even when using one of them as a template, when checking the effects in a character it doesn't show up as a container that can store items.
Am I missing something, or is this not possible at this time?
That’s not currently possible. However, you can add any existing container and customize it directly on your character sheet. (Click the item, then open the Customize section in the sidebar.)

Yeah, that’s what I do - for a magic item I use the bag of holding then customize it changing the name, weight, capacity and adding notes on appearance etc. for non magical items I use sacks or saddlebags
