I don't know where else to put this, but the new books have nothing about the Underdark. I find that odd since one of the most beloved heroes in Faerun is a Drow, and we don't learn anything about Jarlaxle's home?!?
If i had to guess, it is either being carefully reworked to be less one-sided of 'Drow bad, giga sexist religious zealots the lot of them!" and expand stuff like the Non-Lloth settlement like Imburlur ( which is what i am hoping, i have been wanting to hear more about the non-evil enclaves for decades) or they aren't cleaning it up and are just going to sell it separately because yeah, it is one of the most interesting places that literally runs underneath the entire sword coast.

The underdark's pretty popular. I wouldn't be surprised if it's not destined to get its own book.

Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.
If you're not willing or able to to discuss in good faith, then don't be surprised if I don't respond, there are better things in life for me to do than humour you. This signature is that response.
Maybe? But the introduction does mention the several 5E products that were already released that cover specific Forgotten Realms locations, like Out of the Abyss with the Underdark. Still, wouldn't surprise me to see a dedicated Underdark product because there's so much opportunity to explore there. I'd love to see some more of Neverwinter, but honestly I always want to see more Neverwinter.

Isn't the Underdark already described in the 2024 DMG?
There was a 3.5 book all about the underdark including Menzo. Between it and he FR wiki there isn’t too much that really needs updating. What is needed is a book on the updated Drow- both in the underdark and above now that not all Drow ( and orcs) are enherently evil.
Hasbro/WotC is looking at ways to monetize the game more. The best way to do that is a return in concept to the 2e and 3e days of simply releasing more books. The more crap they throw at the wall, the more something is likely to stick. The underdark's popular enough that I think it's almost guaranteed to get it's own sourcebook.

There's a one-paragraph description of it in the Lore Glossary, but that's about it.
I wouldn't mind a standalone underdark book. They could detach it from the FR, make it more setting neutral. Here's what an underground setting could be like. Then list where entrances could be commonly found in various published settings kind of thing.
Though I'll add none of the UA I've seen lately says Underdark to me. Dark Sun, absolutely. And maybe a big book of updated subclasses, or something. But we still haven't heard about the '26 lineup, yet.

Erf. Not happy to hear that.

That was my thought. They'll probably do a dedicated book to it and really dig in.

This is, in fact, what multiple prior editions have done.
