Is anyone else finding it odd that we’re almost at the end of 2025 and baring a delay on Eberron we’ve had every release that’s been previously announced and now have no idea what’s ahead? Where’s the announcements for 2026? Where’s the D&D Direct? We can make educated guesses based on Unearthed Arcana but considering there’s usually at least an aim to get something out in the first quarter (even if it’s usually delayed) I’m finding it strange how quiet WotC are about their upcoming plans. Where’s the hype?
I'd rather they run out of stuff to implement & sell so Hasbro has ZERO excuse not to fund a hiring spree to do a full recoding of Beyond by WotC's Beyond's division.

That would be completely different staff from the ones that write books, and it’s unlikely in the extreme that the staff they have will just stop doing the core of their business for a year
It is PAX Unplugged this weekend. They’ve made announcements there before. Unfortunately, I don’t see any panel discussions or anything, so maybe not. 🤷♂️
Well PAX is done and no further announcements, I don't think D&D even had a panel. Meanwhile Darrington Press announced the first expansion to Daggerheart and got a load of press. I'm listening to the Mike Shay/Sly Flourish podcast at the moment and he's commenting as well how strangely quiet it is, to use his words he can't ever remember a time when he didn't know at least one book that was coming for certain. He's also talking about how much the Chris Perkins and Jeremy Crawford move has shifted the spot light to Daggerheart, especially when you throw in Todd Kendrick going indie and how much of his coverage is DH just because of his friendships with the other two.
I don't know, I just find it weird how silent everyone at WotC is and how much they seem to be OK with the new kid on the block getting all the limelight
Maybe they hope it will burn itself out? Maybe being market leader for so long has made them complacent. They have new leaders, maybe they're still trying to grasp the reins (or at least, were whenever the time would have been for the necessary lead time). Maybe they're just changing strategy so rather than announcing ridiculously far in advance and then inevitable disappoint people every year they're going to announce when they're almost ready to launch. That change in tack will inevitable lead to a quiet period
They probably have plenty of stuff lined up for next year, though. Just...they're not announcing it.

If you're not willing or able to to discuss in good faith, then don't be surprised if I don't respond, there are better things in life for me to do than humour you. This signature is that response.

Given that Hasbro can't do PR for crap, methinks PAX was seen as irrelevant compared to the next Monopoly Go! in-game event announcement.
Jokes aside, regarding PAX silence from Hasbro/WotC:
1. Acquisitions Inc is still a thing? I thought it went by the wayside a la L.A. By Midnight, popularity-wise. 2. I suspect that a lot of hamstringing of WotC communications is going on by Hasbro. Pre-2021, WotC would be all over this season. Either Chris Cocks is about to make a VERY hateable announcement about WotC/DND next financial quarter, or they're prepping for the AI Bubble to burst & thus are saying nothing to avoid a bigger stock tumble. 3. Where did Darrington Press get all of this money for this PR & hiring spree? That's got me suspicious in a "This feels scammy like a bad Kickstarter" way. Critters can't have paid for ALL of it...

I think you're under estimating just how much money Critical Role makes. According to the Twitch leak a few years ago they're making millions of dollars a year on Twitch income, before you take into account their YouTube earnings, sponsorships (which are apparently in the five figures per promo range) and their own streaming service, Amazon deal and merchandise. I doubt there's anything scammy at all about their ability to hire some staff
My guess is that they are trying a new strategy of keeping their mouth shut. Not that i think it is a winning strategy, just it is something they are trying. Optimistically they are working on something as big surprise. Pessimistically they might not have anything planned at all.

I'm still bracing for the next financial quarter to announce something drastic & ill-advised.
Because we all know who's been eyeing to be buying DND.
If you're referring to Musk that was a brain fart tweet he made a year ago when he was rage farming about a book he'd never read on a topic he knows nothing about and then never mentioned the purchase again. I can't of anyone else who has said anything

I am also finding it odd. Usually by now we have the next year’s lineup announced.
Maybe they’re afraid that when they officially announce Dark Sun, gen-xers hearts will explode with nostalgia.
They may be waiting until the Eberron book comes out, to not canibalize its hype.
Maybe but I think the delay pretty much already killed the hype for that from anyone who isn’t already a die hard Eberron fan
I'd rather they run out of stuff to implement & sell so Hasbro has ZERO excuse not to fund a hiring spree to do a full recoding of Beyond by WotC's Beyond's division.
