How do most put together a group to play in person? I have played multiple campaigns online and am DM’ing currently. I have been wanting to play in person for a very long time but am having a hard time finding anyone that would be interested, I am open to DM or be a player at someone else’s table, I just don’t know where to look. Any advice would be appreciated.
Local game stores often have old-school message boards with people looking for groups. Online there can be a number of resources depending on where you live. In Seattle, for example, there’s a D&D meetup that’s been going strong for years and is where I’ve found lots of players and groups. To be views, we play in person, just find each other online. And there’s always suggesting to friends, family and co-workers that you’re trying to get a game together.

The lowest stress way would probably be to pop in to your local game store (my experience is that they're surprisingly close) and ask the owner. There's likely to be a group running that you could join. If not, they'll likely know other game stores in the locks area that you can check.
Alternatively, you could search for groups on Facebook (if you're forming your own group, expect a low reliability from this though). Or ask your friends if they want to try it out. You could ask your local game store if they'd be interested in advertising it - they'll get a nice bit of dosh if it comes together from table prices, snacks, etc. As mentioned above, they'll probably have a Discord server and a large audience there, so you can probably get a few interested.
However, unless you're able to join a group, expect to be DM. There are a lot more people interested in playing than DMs. If you want to DM, I'd be surprised if you couldn't get a game together in a matter of a couple of weeks. As a player...well, there's a decent chance that it'll happen, but it's not guaranteed.
Unless you live near me. I have trained up several DMs who want a crack, but our players have limited time and so can't attend a game for each would-be DM on a regular basis.

Heck, anymore they tend to have Discord servers. It's how I ended up in a group doing Tyranny of Dragons.
Check with your local library. There's a chance they might organize one or have space for groups to coordinate games and invite new members.

Depending on where you live, you might also check MeetUp to see if there are any D&D or TTRPG groups in your area.
