Enjoying using Homebrew. Great for unique items for our campaign.
Question: is there a way as DM to restrict campaign members from looking at what is in my homebrew? I want to be able to assign things to their characters when they find/enounter th em, but not let them see items that they have not encountered yet in the campaign.
If you've created it, you can click Remove From Collection and it'll be unavailable for browsing/selection on sheets. You'll still have it under the link My Homebrew Creations and can add it when appropriate by clicking the button again (which will now say Add To Collection).
If it's someone else's published homebrew, bookmark the page before removing from your collection. That way you still have an easy way to return to it.
The chance of players stumbling across some homebrew item you've made while searching equipment in their character sheet is ridiculously small. They can't see anything you've created outside of that specific instance.

Lightning Strike - A rebranded Fire Bolt for Wizards & Sorcerers.
Spirit Bomb - A holy fireball for Clerics, Paladins, & Divine Soul Sorcerers!
Sword Dancer - A Cleric subclass specifically for the Drow goddess Eilistraee.

When you say "That specific instance", there is no way to restrict Homebrew to a given campaign. Whatever's in your Homebrew Collection as a DM is visible in all player's inventory lists.
And as for "stumbling across", there's a specific search. If they go looking, they will find it.
If you can't trust your players not to snoop you have bigger problems.
Given that everything Homebrew the player has access to is all together, it's absolutely possible to encounter by accident under multiple circumstances. The DM not wanting something spoiled by accident is entirely valid, and your replies have both been entirely unhelpful and dismissive.
Have you had this happen? Has anyone? Or are you all just panicking over an imagined scenario? I have pages of homebrew, over a dozen players sorrad through multiple campaigns, and this has never been an issue.
