I'm in a group and we play in 5e. We are starting a new campaign and I asked if I can play a Druid using 5.5 rules. I am trying to create the character with 5e spells. How can I do that? Cure wounds went from 1d8 to 2d8 and that is a 'no-go' for the team
The 5e spells aren't coded to work with 5.5e characters because that's literally not allowed by the rules. You'll have to create a homebrew copy of every 5e spell you plan to use and add the 5.5e class as available to use it.
Kind of silly to get up in arms over Cure Wounds of all things though. Healing has always been underpowered compared to damage spells, this just helps fix that issue.
Ah, true enough, I forgot about that -- I guess enough of the base class features aren't as easy to adjust into the subclass (plus you can't remove stuff from the extant 5e base class).
I do have everything selected, but certain spells. I cannot choose the legacy one. I do like DnD and beyond because I’m a relatively new player and I’m not totally solid on leveling up. However, sometimes the platform isn’t that helpful

Note my first reply to your post. You're using a 5.5e base class and the 5e spells which have been replaced are incompatible with your class. There's a workaround if you're insistent on going against the game's design and your DM is okay with it.

You should review the changelog from December 2024 that spells out most scenarios on how to do this. The most simple method is to own both the digital copies of the 2014 and 2024 books and select the Legacy Badge before creating the character. I would guess it show you what was available. Subclasses that didn't convert over, can still be brought over at 3rd level , since I believe most subclasses were available at 1st level in 2014.

This is incorrect; as has already been pointed out in this thread, in accordance with the official rules D&D Beyond doesn't allow the use of 5e spells that have 5.5e versions if you're using a 5.5e class. This is irrespective of what content you own or don't own. You can work around it via making homebrew copies of the spells, which again has already been pointed out in this thread.
There is no "Legacy Badge" and the changelog from December 2024 does not say anything about any of this.

I expressively referred them to the Changelog, therefore nothing is incorrect, as I never made any definite claim responses.. This seems to be your MO to every one of my posts and it is getting tiresome, if not harassing.

You can choose "legacy" at the beginning of character creation under "Sources". With that said, I've already asked that you not respond to anymore of my comments in the previous thread, so now I am asking that you do not respond to any thread of mine from here on.

You referred them to a changelog that doesn't say what you said it says, and suggested that they do something (checking the "Legacy" source option) that won't do anything to help them. If you don't want people to correct you when you give people advice that's completely false — especially in a thread where the question has already been answered correctly by someone else — maybe don't do that?

An easier way would be to make a homebrew copy of the druid 5.5 subclass you want, but for 5e. Then you won't have to mess with spells.
Birgit | Shifter | Sorcerer | Dragonlords
Shayone | Hobgoblin | Sorcerer | Netherdeep
This doesn't help in the slightest if you want the Druid base class as it is in 5.5e.
