I'm pretty excited based on what's been released so far. The aesthetic of the character is just pinpoint warlock-- a real warlock's warlock. I like how they give her the blade features as well the chain, kind of giving a taste of all the different flavors. I bet they're are gonna be skill trees for each direction you'd want to go too.
The main character seemed pretty interesting too, hitting that stride between "gruff, edgy, silent type" and "Marvel-style quipping", giving her the impression of having a sharp wit and an internal monolog she might not always share. Definitely seems like she's got the potential to be an interesting, multi-faceted character. And she's voiced by EDE from Mass Effect! Added bonus. The sarcastic imp seemed fun too.
Gameplay looks interesting-- I like the focus on using spells to interact with the environment as much as in combat, and even *in* combat, using them to look for ways to give you an edge with the environment (like toppling the pillar on the zombie, or pulling the sword out of the ogre zombie). The actual swordplay looked a little basic, so hopefully there's room for added complexity as you gain exp, but being able to switch between the sword and hammer was cool.
All in all I prefer what's presented here to if they had tried to stick too close to the rules of DND. Yes, we all know she wouldn't have that many spell slots-- but the rules for the ttrpg facilitate the ttrpg to approximate the "reality" for the characters, and that "reality" would look a lot more like this if it was a video game instead.
Part of me wants this game to be a hit, and the first of a series where each dnd class gets a solo game to really showcase its cinematic potential. I'd play the hell out of Paladin or Rogue, even Bard!
Yeah my first thought was, those spells don’t seem like warlock powers very much. But, as you’re saying, this is the video game version, so they’re going to take some liberties. And you’re solo, it seems. Without a party to support you, you’ll need some extra oomph.
After how crappy dark alliance was, I hadn’t been expecting much, but this is definitely going to make me take a look. I probably won’t pre-order, but I’ll be checking reviews.
the combat/movement looked awkward. It didn't feel like a warlock, and warlock is a class I think you could stick pretty close to in a single player game.
The character/dialogue was whatever. I wasn't bothered, I was not wowed.
but its like a year off so its got time to nail things down. Though I don't think its going to feel like a warlock end of the day. Its just magic girl with a D&D skin.

Warlock is a pretty versatile class though, which is probably why they singled it out for a game of its own. They can be casters, they can be gishes, they can be summoners, they can be stealthy-- magic girl is actually a pretty good description of what Warlocks are in dnd too.
Its hard to say what exactly this game will be. Maybe it will be interesting.
But it always astonishes me how these giant companies fumble thier IP's so hard. Most people that would buy a D&D game, want to play a game based in those worlds with those rules. Its hard to imagine many want a D&D action game, from the same people that made the last one that flopped.
They fumble the bag with video games based around magic too.
Looks promising, but we have seen things good things cut down for short term gain before, so who knows if it is going to be axed for a tax write off by some executive before launch. Since it is Due next year, I am doubting it will, but I will only get my hype engine going in full closer to release.

It looks like a functional hack-and-slasher/blaster to me. A lot will depend on how interesting the world is to explore or varied the fights are, which we can't tell from this vertical slice. If it has interesting combat and traversal challenges like Jedi Survivor then it'll do well, if it ends up with a whole lot of nothing to commute through like Forspoken it will do poorly.
For me personally, I'm less interested in the gameplay than I am in the lore. We already know Tasha will be the MC's patron, so I'm curious about where this is set (I'm assuming FR) and when, as well as who else might pop up (e.g. Minsc and Boo, maybe some of the BG3 crew, or some of the other notables like Elminster etc.)

A whole lot of meh to me.

Looks interesting to me, but I'll wait to get excited until it gets closer to launch.
