Just wanted to say thank you! to everyone: the community, the mods, the developers, twitch/curse, wizards. This has been awesome so far and it's only in the first phase of beta. I regularly reference the compendium in my weekly VTT game now and it's awesome having somewhere with the rules compiled in one, easy to read/search place.
I cannot wait until we are able to purchase the additional info -- I have a monster manual, but being able to search a web-page for a monster, a CR, a size, an environment, etc. will be so much easier than paging through a book. Being able to sort monsters that frequent a swamp or a dessert is invaluable to me, as someone who undertook the role of a DM being completely new to D&D. Currently I feel like I use the same 10 monsters over and over, for simply not having enough time to read the entire MM, and not having an easily searchable database. Just even the base rules, spells, and monsters that are included already have been a great help.
It's also fantastic having a forum to ask questions, and it's organized really well (DM's, tips, rules all in different sections). Getting other users input on where the RAW is located, and then getting their groups input on what they believe the RAI are supposed to be is fantastic. It has made for some great deliberation, and opened my eyes to so many more possibilities and trains of thought.
So again, to the entire DDB staff and community, as a new TT-RPGer and new D&D DM, thank you!
