I am looking for transmutation spells similar to Phantasmal Force. It is for a transmutation wizard. She was tutored in the art of enchantment and learned transmutation along the way, finally choosing the school of transmutation over enchantment for her own reasons.
So where it would make sense that she would know how to perform an enchantment and how to do transmutation, it doesn't make sense thematically for her to know an illusion spell.
Are there any spells at all; preferably transmutation, but an enchantment would also be fine, that are similar - as in have a similar outcome, even if the actual spell is different - to Phantasmal Force.
I am thinking that she could enchant a scroll or something that would allow her to use Phantasmal Force, without having to know the spell - would this work? Also if possible I would prefer an actual transmutation since she is a transmutation wizard.
Cheers

The closest comparable Transmutation spell of the same level is probably Earthen Grasp. Like Phantasmal Force, it's an ongoing save-or-suck spell with a 1-minute concentration duration that can prevent at least a melee combatant from being able to do literally anything. Earthen Grasp can actually do more damage, too. Unfortunately, it lacks in some of the more "creative" applications you can perform with PF, and it tapers off at higher levels due to being linked to the ground.
2nd level spells are pretty lackluster for Transmutation, unfortunately. If what you're after is the creativity, you'll have to, just wait until you get 4th level spells - Polymorph, Fabricate and Stone Shape are all excellent spells and can be used in very creative ways.
Hold Person is a comparable Enchantment spell of the same level, another ongoing save-or-suck, 1-minute duration, can shut down melee characters well. Very similar to Earthen Grasp, though slightly worse as it can only target humanoids and doesn't do any damage on its own. It can target flying humanoids, unlike Earthen Grasp though those aren't super common. Enchantment doesn't quite lend itself to the creativity aspect as well, unfortunately, though the school can still be used in a lot of creative ways, mostly in social situations.
Although, if your character has had formal training in Enchantment, it's not entirely unreasonable that she'd learn PF. Enchantment is all about influencing the minds of others via magic, and while most illusion spells bend light, make physical sounds or change how stuff appears, Phantasmal Force is described as purely taking root in the mind of a creature, making it more comparable to a typical Enchantment spell. The line is pretty thin to begin with tbh.
