So, I'm sure there's likely a post for this, but how do I create a race and allow it to port over into the character builder system? Does it need to be published first before I'm able to put it in my campaign?
Any homebrew you have created that is in your Homebrew Collection is automatically shared with others in any campaign you are a member of.
As DxJxC mentions, every character created has a set of toggles within the preferences for that character (click on the HOME tab when editing the character). Please make sure that the toggle for Homebrew Content is in the "on" position (toggled to the right and coloured red).
That’s the thing, I have that toggled to “on”, but when I go to create a character with the home brew race, nothing shows up.
...I’ll keep tinkering with the race and see if I just need to finish all of the stats and the like, see if that does anything. I’ll check back later if anything changes or if I need more help.
Did you make sure it was in your collection, like stormknight pointed out? You should be able to see even unfinished homebrew (I've used it to test stuff).
You can also post a link to the character and homebrew (not share link, and you don't need to publish), and he or another mod can look at it.
Figured it out. It was because I had the sub races section checked on accident. It’s available now. Ill have to keep in mind to check that only if there’s different sub race options to choose from in game.
I do have another question though regarding the home brew races, how do i set a tiered spell list for a race, that can unlock higher level spells that could be swapped out during a rest, but only still have the one list to select from (basically: one list, so only one spell to choose, but more options can pop up as the character levels up).
I don't think race optiona can select spells (might be wrong, not sure). If they can, create an option for each spell and set the level that option becomes available at.
Had a feeling thats what id have to do, but if anyone else has come across thos, feel free to chime in. Ill keep coding it how i was thinking i would do it before and change things up if someone knows a special coding trick i can use to unlock higher spells in the spell list im making.
Alternately, how would it work if i made the list completely full with all spell levels and simply limited the spell casting level in the coding? Would that nerf a higher level spell to something lower in power?
Im new to creating homebrew races mine gives me a feat and skill proficiencies but when i use character creation it doesn't give me the option to pick a feat and the feats it gives me im not familiar with and the +2 dex and 1 of any other skill doesn't work either. I normally use an app to drum up a character as i haven't played since 2nd edit. So can anyone help me with my issues

As long as it is your campaign, it should translate right over.

Odd. I tried to create a new homebrew race and it didnt port over automatically, and im the gm of a campaign i opened to test using it.
Make sure homebrew is toggled on (red) for the character.
