Changeling warlock of a trickster god, thinks he's a cleric of the trickster god, goes around pretending to be a cleric of other gods.
Or, using the 2024 PHB rules, a human with the Origin Feat of Magic Initiate (Druid) and the background of Charlatan, plays as either an Archfey patron warlock or as an Great Old One warlock, with the idea to swindle rural folks out of their money.
August 19, 2025: I dropped the Charlatan / swindler idea because it was insufficiently heroic and I doubted my ability to pull it off.
A mind flayer artificer who was a gith and got transformed into a mind flayer. After learning magic they were banished, and eventually started adventuring. Also absolutely obsessed with learning everything about all cultures but hilariously failing. Only joined party to learn about various cultures but the only other members are a crazy goat and a human fighter with zero backstory and personality
once played a guy who was a sharpshooter, he had a homebrew sniper and everything, only problem was he ended up having really bad perception so he could only work close range
I had an idea for Warlock/Profane Soul Blood Hunter(I know it’s not the best subclass, but hear me out) whose patron is actually a supernatural married couple who part way through the campaign get a divorce and have “joint custody” of you. This could be an interesting way to mix two different kinds of patrons in the same build and have funny story moments

Strangely enough, there is some precedent for such a situation. In the Greek myths, the deities Zeus and Hera were married. Zeus was rather infamous for having sexual encounters with women other than Hera (both mortal and divine) creating a wide variety of deities and demi-deities. Hera, naturally, was not pleased with this.
The hero Hercules was one such demi-deity and much of his life was spent dodging Hera's displeasure.
Extremely naive Marquis of Queensbury rules-adhering Gentleman Boxer(Half-Orc Sweet Science Pugilist) whose parents are replaced by demon cultist Lizardfolk con artists stealing his inheritance via exorbitant spending, & the deeply undercover Tyr-worshipping Changeling agent of a secret religious order pretending to be his Green Dragonborn fiance who's actually falling in love with the dolt(Noble Genies Paladin).

So, add this factoid to your character's story.
For some reason, this makes me think of Magalor from Kirby's Return to Dreamland.
Just a guy on DDB, looking at the forums.
Currently trying to create an adorable hivemind species for a worldbuiding project.
Magalor the thing in a cape? I play kirby: star allies and he comes back there
