A VTT has been requested since the inception of DDB.
While in the beginning this was confirmed as not going to happen, things seems to have started moving in a direction that might suggest at one point in the (somewhat distant) future something similar to a VTT might be introduced.
For the time being, we have confirmation on the Encounter Builder (currently in BETA for subscribers) and the virtual DM screen, which will already introduce some much needed management functionality.

is there any chance that DnD Beyond will become similar to Roll20? With a virtual tabletop and easily accessible characters?
Would be interesting.
Keeping it real for as long as i can remember.

In the long-term, yes - it is on the plan.
There are a number of really cool features in the short-term plan though, some of which are going to be amazing!

I'm personally really looking forward to the Dice Roller, Digital DM screen, Interactive Adventure Maps, and Combat/Initiative tracking.

They will probably need to make (and hire) a new team to work on it. A process that will take no short amount of time.
