How many of you play Dragonborn as written in the PHB (multi color-al) and how many of you play them as half-dragons? Why?
EDIT*
Apologies, I'm talking about the appearance of your Dragonborn. Do you prefer the "muddy" (PHB) colors or do you prefer the half-dragon "true scales" colors?
It's a thing from Critical Role where dragonborn are given the ancestral scale colors rather then the bronze, rust, and copper colors. And I found myself doing the same thing as I was making my dragonborn. I have a thing for the metallic scales of silvers and the green stripes of the bronzes dragons and want to have that reflected in my characters.
I have no idea what you mean by playing them as either PHB or as half-dragons, nor do I understand what your poll suggests by non-color.
Dragonborn in general usually have bronze scales in a more uniform appearance but some have scales of various colours much like full dragons.
"The blood of a particular type of dragon runs very strong through some dragonborn clans. These dragonborn often boast scales that more closely match those of their dragon ancestor — bright red, green, blue, or white, lustrous black, or gleaming metallic gold, silver, brass, copper, or bronze."
Dragonborn are basically small dragons that stand erect like a humanoid and lack wings and tail. I don't really see how else you play them. Then again, I don't know what is meant as "half-dragon", this isn't in the PHB and don't understand what you're implying with it.

Half-dragon was a racial template in 3e and 3.5e for beings who were the children of dragons directly. I actually found a 5e homebrew version of the Council of Wyrms that made a half dragon race that worked well but wasn't really much different from dragonborn. Honestly if in your campaign you want to make them half dragons just do it. The PHB suggests they would work for Draconians in Dragonlance with slight changes and I think it's a reasonable option.
