Okay we all know the usual warlock patrons: demons, Aldrich horrors, angels, God's, dragons, ridiculously powerful monsters. But I've never actually seen someone suggest a patron of an actual object or energy source? So I was wondering about writing a class where you have a warlock playing their servitude to a nuclear explosives or a barrel of radiation? Any suggestions on how to write said class! I know their Eldridge blast would be deftly carrying some corrosive material will to the body. Maybe random mutations?
The problem is that the power in general has to have enough sentience to form a pact with the warlock, granting them a measure of abilities. Warlocks do get spells like Sickening Radiance, and if you could come up with a patron that has some form of nuclear energy basis, you could likely talk your DM into letting you have Ray of Sickness as a pact spell.

"The mongoose blew out its candle and was asleep in bed before the room went dark." —Llanowar fable
Well luckily I technically the writers so that mean I am the DM. So you're saying a post-apocalyptic nuclear world means you could technically worship and enslave yourself to something of nuclear radiation? Right? (Also, creating classes)
https://www.dndbeyond.com/subclasses/202945-natural-altar This is heavily heavily have not been finished. This is just roughly, but I got set up! I'm taking a bit references from DC comics, because I think the Green Lantern Corps and Ra's (pronounced "Raysh") al Ghul.

Doesn't have to be though. If you take the perspective of "I am making a character" vs. "I am a class" you can fluff it as you like. A Great Old One may not be intelligent...or not in a way that is meaningful to us. A celestial one doesn't have to be angel, why not a font of power you have tapped into. Ever since I read this approach from the designer of Eberron I find myself thinking in those terms:
"The first issue here is how you view classes. Are classes a construct that exists in the world exactly as they exist in the rules? Does every member of a class have access to all the choices within that class? Or are they simply mechanical tools that allow us as GMs and players to model the characters we want to play? Does every sorcerer in the world recognize “I am a sorcerer?” Or is that a term we use to identify anyone using this rule set, but not something they would recognize?"
This is because for Keith, the story is what is important. So if you have an idea run it by the DM.
Can someone explain to me how mapping options works again? Because this thing is still complaining to me that it doesn't know the options even though I type in all the data! And this is the reason why I'm rarely on the site
Okay have created a new warlock subclass: corrupted well has a couple of counter unique features. If any of you guys wish to be a Green Lantern or any of the other lanterns. You're just gonna have to go with hex blade and talk to your DM! Seriously, I don't know how to get options to work on warlock! https://www.dndbeyond.com/subclasses/203721-corrupted-well
Note if I do dual writing of a certain story that I'm fine on doing on my deviant art page(the quest link. I am not linking it here). I will probably be using this is my template, the idea of the story is going to have a party of three girls trying to survive a fall out like world with slight steam punk ideas. Couple combinations with possibly Final Fantasy VII. , The other two classes are going to be Professor & Rune Paladin Knight.

Sure, maybe some primordial force like Hexxus, embodiment of pollution, from FernGully, but as a radiation monster.
