Has DNDB recently been acquired by Fandom, or partnered or whatever? Or has this been the case for a while now?
I only ask because the past experiences I’ve had with Fandom have been extremely negative (tons of ads, laggy websites, etc). I’d hate for this site to fall to a similar fate.

I know what you're thinking: "In that flurry of blows, did he use all his ki points, or save one?" Well, are ya feeling lucky, punk?
From working closely with the D&D Beyond, my opinion is that both businesses coming together under the Fandom banner has been a positive influence in both directions.
D&D Beyond, as a team, have grown and been able to invest in the future way more than before. Whilst I don't have specific stats for you - there are significantly more staff now and many,, many more developers.
Yeah, my past experiences with Fandom(formerly Wikia) are the same as OP, with sites being a complete mess. However, they seem to be rather hands-off on this project, and are not pushing the DDB team to go to a god awful wiki-style site. Not that I figured they would when they took over, but Fandom's acquisition of D&D Beyond seems to have been nothing but positive so far.
I know this is an old thread but my bank statemtents usually say D&D Beyond but this time it says Fandom Inc. has anyone else noticed this? Is this even my usual D&DBeyond charge, or something that should be disputed?

From what I can tell, my transactions have always shown up as Fandom on my bank account, earliest I can still see on my statements is from Nov 2019 and it says "Fandom, LLC".

Just for you I downloaded my transaction history, converted it into a document file, and did a search for "fandom" and "d&d beyond" and here is what I found:
Subscription payments are to d&d beyond, content purchases are to fandom.
You're welcome.

They've been owned by Fandom for a while now.
Since december 12, 2018. Been almost a year now.
Generally speaking, the frequency of updates has been gradually increasing since then.
