pictures of half elves look like they are half elf half human, but could they be,say, half elf half orc? l know that half orcs are also a thing,so what would this half elf half orc be called? a quarter elf/orc? or would they be some new race? what about lf a half elf had a kid with a half orc, what would the kid be? or could a human and a dragonborn have a kid? what would that kids race be?
If you add an extra advantageous trait, it must be balanced out by an equally disadvantageous trait.
One of the ability score increases has to be +1 Charisma. I know half-orcs don't follow this but the +1 Charisma is there for a reason - it's the diplomacy stat. If you don't include it, you'd better have a good reason.
If it's hard to figure out what counts as an actual trait and what doesn't, like in the case of humans, just try to figure out what you can cut in half and what you can't.
Body stuff only. Things that are based on the soul, such as elven reincarnation, generally don't apply to the body so shouldn't be included as traits, although you can still put them in the description.
And that's about it. You don't have to slog through all the books to figure out weight and stuff if you don't have to, just list the size term. Also, if you're going to make a half breed, there's probably a pile of them in homebrew already so you likely don't even need to make one unless those homebrews don't make sense.

welcome to d&d beyond, and thank you for your help.
I generally follow a similar outline. I normally don't give them a static boost to charisma, I don't see that to be something likely to appear in strange creature combinations, like Goblin-Orcs I would never give a bonus to Charisma for that combination. I would likely give them a +2 to Constitution, and +1 to one other stat.
Most combinations get darkvision. Dwarf mixes get poison resistance. Elf combinations get Fey ancestry.

Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
I'm really confused. I am going to start playing in a couple days and I wasn't sure which race and class I wanted. So I could do half human, half elf, but could I also potentially do half fighter half wizard? Please help! I might make a separate forum but this is all I can do for now.

a "half human half elf" would just be a half-elf and multiclassing is something you can do. you just have to decide which levels will go into wizard and which will be fighter. (example:odd levels,ie 1,3,5 ect,are wizard, and even,ie 2,4,6 ect are fighter. or you can go 2 wiz 2 fighter ect) its up to you.
l recommend useing D&D beyonds character maker,l never made a character b4,but this site made it easy! Also, best of luck in your (first?) game!
I also did do a separate thread. Please look at it and give more advice if possible. I will most likely update it after our between sessions with updates, more questions, and asking for tips thank you again!
We're just throwing around some ideas, none of these are official besides half-orc and half-elf. We're discussing what other race combinations would be. You can have more than 1 class (wizard, rogue, fighter, paladin, so on), but you have to multiclass, which is optional, and has some special rules tied to it. Talk to your DM about this possibility.

You have to have a 13 or higher in intelligence to multiclass in or out of wizard, and Dexterity or Strength of 13 for multiclassing in or out of fighter. You get different hit dice and hit points for the classes, fighter is 1d10, and wizard is 1d6. Your proficiency bonus doesn't depend on your individual class levels, but your combined level, same with XP needed to level up. There are other rules, but I don't think this is the best place to list them all. If you send me the link to the other thread, I can help out more.

In 5e there are half-races, which are just races. Those races might have subraces, like how Sun Elf is a subrace of Elf.
For classes, there are no half or sub classes. They're just classes. You can take two classes at once, if you have an available level for it. So for instance if you want to be a Rogue and Ranger, you need to be level 2 for 1 level in Rogue and 1 level in Ranger. Usually your second class does not gain as many benefits as your first class when it starts off. Beyond shows you this.
Well, there are subclasses, but wizard gains theirs at level 2, and fighter at level 3. (Remember, you have to be a combined level of level 5 at the least to gain both subclasses for both of these classes)
I would recommend Eldritch Knight subclass for Fighter, and Bladesinger for Wizard.
Now, back to the topic.
What race combinations would you guys like to see introduced?

I've made them be a new race. Just to make them have a cool name, in my games half-orc/half-elves are called Krosari.

Spells, Monsters, Subclasses, Races, Arcknight Class, Occultist Class, World, Enigmatic Esoterica forms
ok so the half elves/orcs are specifically half human, and any other combo are their own race?
Yes, that's what I'd assume. I've made half-human half-gnomes, half-human half-dwarves (called Mul), half-elf half dwarves (Dwelfs) and half-dwarf half-orcs (Dareogs).
I may eventually make gnome-elves, gnome-dwarves, and halfling half-races, but that's all I've made so far.

I was going to wait, but I went ahead and published this so you could see it as an example. https://www.dndbeyond.com/races/291925-gob-elf
Generally my rules are:
One trait from each parent.
Vision is free.

Thanks! It is my first game. I was thinking that you should try to make it half and half to see where it gets you so 10/10
