I will try to be concise and fast with this thread (LOL). I would like to share some "concerns" here with you all.
Recently I bought a digital standard Fantasy Grounds subscription through STEAM to start playing DnD. I use MAC (iMac) and STEAM runs on WIN/MAC/Linux. I have it installed in my iMac for more than one year, but I don't play "digital games". I decided to try with DnD.
I play, weekly, DnD in the old fashion way with the hard copy of PHB/MM/DM guide/Volo's Manual and the chard copy of campaigns, with a group of friends, battle maps (sometimes miniatures) plus a lot of material I buy from DMSGuild.
With the FG Standard Subscription, I got some basic libraries which allow me to create characters and etc. I have been exploring the content, reading the user manual, etc. It seems nice.
I tried to create a War Cleric (my favorite class btw) and that domain it is not available unless I buy the Core Class Pack from FG. The same happens here in DDB; the free content has only Life Domain.
I even thought about buying the Core Class Pack (which is the same as PHB) from FG. It seems that pack only runs in PC/Win, as well as most of the adventure packs.
Besides that frustrating point, I can create my War Cleric if I join a DM campaign because he/she can release all contents for me, but I can access my character only while the DM is in share mode; so it seems I can not save my character sheet offline to have it in my computer.
Maybe I was naive or techy dumb to "believe" that having STEAM would be enough to play DnD using FG program. I knew I would have to pay extra for the adventures but I thought when buying them I would install some libraries in my iMac and the core would run through STEAM, whether I am using Win/Mac/Linux.
I still am looking for more accurate info about that "platform issue" but should I buy a PC/Win to play DnD on FG? (if yes, That's RIDICULOUS).
Now the same doubt goes to DDB.
Will WotC will release theDDBrunning on any kind of computer platform or only for PC/Win?
If we create characters inside a campaign, may we save our character sheet in our computer (like having a copy of it)?
Is it possible for the DDB staff to bring more "technical" info about what we can expect of this product concerning the type of computers and other network/hardware configurations we need to play DDB?

For now DDB is an online service. There is an app in development for android and iOS to allow offline access. There has been no mention of offline capabilities for PC/MAC. Some people have requested offline for PC but nothing official. So the short answer is yes it will work on all three platforms as it is an online app via the web. You are accessing it now so that should answer your question. From your posts I think that you are confusing DDB with the VT that FG and roll 20 are. DDB is not a VT and has not been advertised as a VT.
Thanks Josef, for the reply. So, once I pay the subscription and I buy the contents and adventures modules, there won't be any problem if I "install" them and play from my iMac (or whatever computer I am using); actually, everything will be available online, is that correct?
Even if I have two platforms at home, such as MAC and PC/Win, I will be able to log in on any computer and play from there; or in a situation like I have PC/Win at home but I went to a friend's house, on vacation, who has MAC there (or vice-versa), I will be able to use his computer, log in and play without any problem because it is an online service. Am I right to think that?
If that is the case, congratulations for WotC, because I don't need to carry my computer to be able to play, the only "limitation" would be the internet connection.
I will be more than happy to pay my subscription then, and I mean that :-)
And it is my understanding that the only offline access we will have is via the app on Android and iOS. I may be wrong, but that is my understanding so far.

Drakortex, I get the feeling that you believe this may be an executable game that you're installing to play. This is not the case.
D&D Beyond is a digital toolset to AID in tabletop Dungeons & Dragons - there is no 'game' to launch. The functionality which you're presently testing in this beta is the foundation of what's being offered. The offering of source books and the subscription model will enhance upon what's presently available. Yes, there will be mobile apps offered, which will bring further native access to D&D Beyonds tools, as well as allow for offline interaction of books/characters.
As such, I'm not sure what sort of hardware configuration specifications you'd be looking for - as this currently is an internet server-based tool.
Thanks for your reply. Great friends and adventures have replied also my questions and provided me insights about my thread.
It seems that won't matter what kind of computer I will use to play, once it is web based I can play on my Mac at home or if I go on vacation to other places, such as a relative's house, I will be capable of using a PC/Win there to play.
That seems to me I don't need to carry my computer with me if I want to play. I hope I can play my campaigns from the same point I stopped considering that my character will be saved in my DM files and she/he will be sharing with me. I also hope they can export my file to me (maybe xml) that I can save a copy on my computer.
If it is like that simple, it seems the only "limitation" for playing will be the Internet connection.
I congratulate WotC and I will be more than glad to pay my subscription for the service (and I really mean that).
If you can access the free content currently available you should not have any problems once everything is released.
I believe the browser you use would influence whether or not dndbeyond works more so than the specific computer. However, I don't think this is going to be an issue with any major browser.
