I don't want more iron clad rules... I want more clarity.
I teach science writing at the college level. I tell my students regularly, that more writing does not equal better writing. Brevity is the soul of wit, and conciseness is preferable to wordiness. The problem with the PHB and DMG is that they are wordy but opaque, rather than being brief and clear.
They do not need to pull a dozen people off other projects or something to fix this. What they need is a good, professional editor who also understands the rules of D&D, who can make sure that they say what they mean, and mean what they say.
Exactly. The reason I suggest a rulebook 2.0 instead of a supplement is so they can fix the rules they have, not to introduce more optional rules. And I do think it should be a new book rather than several erratas.
While it may not be necessary to have a full team rewrite these books, I do think it will take more than 1 person to fix the current mess. More eyes for spotting errors. I also think it would be wise to have some of the D&D devs comb through forums like these to see all the confusion it causes themselves.

You think they don’t?
It really doesn't seem like it. Some of these confused questions come up frequently and there has not been an errata or SA (which again doesn't settle arguments sometimes since they are specifically not core rules).

You are right. The odds of the game developers actively monitoring a third party representatives are pretty slim. They might do the the occasional check in with a ghost account, but not full monitoring.
If you are looking to give feedback or ask questions. Best bet is probably via their social media platforms or, if time aligns, their streams like Dragon Talk or Dragon+.
To be fair, monitoring the community and keeping their finger on the pulse is the actual, literal job of a "Community Manager." Their entire point is to wade through the sea of bull****ery and nonsense and condense trends in community viewpoints into actionable pieces of information for developers. Since Wizards doesn't have a Community Manager/Lead/Director/whatever-other-term-they-use...yeah. You can be pretty certain they don't do much active monitoring of their community outside of feedback surveys. Which are a piss poor method of gathering feedback and a worse method of monitoring the community's general opinion base.

They collect data they just might not use the internet for it. WPN sends out mystery shoppers randomly to LGSs my understanding is they are looking to see not only all of WOTC store rules are being followed but also what the players like/dislike.
I think things are pretty great as they are. I disagree with a couple of rules, so change them as I see fit which 5E gives me the power to easily do so. No need for PHB/DMG 2.0 in my opinion. Additional sourcebooks and adventure modules are all I would like to see for the foreseeable future.
I agree if I find a rule that is written bad or I don’t agree with I just change it or talk with my players about it and see how they feel
When Wizards is actively pushing a style of play that forces the poor DM to comply scrupulously to every single crapass ambiguous, illogical, or inconsistent rule in the book, especially at the expense of home games where you can do this sort of fix-it slap patching, there is an issue.

How much do you wanna bet that at least half the Devs at WotC have a DDB account?

Which is awesome when you can do it.
