im currently trying to make a 1920s urban fantasy dnd campaign and I need help figuring out currency and how to turn dnd classes into “modern” day careers (kinda like bards are musicians and jazz singers) and overall integrating dnd races into an urban environment
1920s? Call of cathulu might be better suited for it. Else you'll have to home brew everything.
What would you have to homebrew? You can use normal rules for 5e in the 1920's.
Good point. I think of the 1920s real life and how it was back then (from reading). Could be really fun and chaotic to have a DND group with all their powers show up and have at it.
I'm just thinking of how would DND characters find their place in that timeline. Could be fun.

Have you watched Dimension 20?
The DM does a good job of integrating Dnd into modern settings.
The Barbarian could be a biker. Paladin could be a cop or former soldier. Wizard magician. Warlock...anything. Cleric a nurse.
Copper is a penny, a silver a dime, and a gold is a dollar. Back in the day when a dollar could get you something.
Artificer could be some technology prodigy, possibly apprenticed to Tesla or Edison, as they lived around the same time period.
Barbarians as bikers, as said by Fattsgalore, or as a professional wrestler.
Bard as musician, or I could even see them as a traveling magician.
Cleric as a member of a church, or as a doctor.
Druid, as a zookeeper?
Fighter as a soldier. 1920's is right after WWI, so you can just be a veteran.
(Forgot Monk, that's okay though) Monk as boxer, or a ninja.
Paladin as a priest, or cop, or veteran.
Ranger as a Park Ranger.
Rogue as a member of the Mafia.
Sorcerer as a magician.
Warlock as member of the Blackburn Cult or ***.
Wizard as a librarian.
Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
Spells, Monsters, Subclasses, Races, Arcknight Class, Occultist Class, World, Enigmatic Esoterica forms
Monk as a boxer. It could essentially be Bruce Willis from pulp fiction.
I could also see a barbarian as a lumberjack.

Yeah that’s kinda what I was thinking with the story, because the 20s was a wild time and throw mystical beings in the mix would be a whole lot of fun
There were some pretty prevalent cults back then. If you want, the first few quests could be killing some cultists, or something like that.
