If RAW says no, talk to your DM about a compromise. Acknowledge what the rules say, and work something out between you and your DM that attempts to counter this. At the end of the day, your DM is the judge.
So I'm working on a Gnome Artificer - Armorer named Tiny Stank. Yep, a mini Iron Man.
