Batman is tough in 5e as well, because of all the level dips. Gear is important too. Background is some combination of noble and haunted one. He also has a form of indefinite madness. I'd say a LN but the classes are tough. Thematically, he's a vengeance paladin, easy. Shadow monk gives him the ability to disappear and move about the darkness. Finally, he must be an inquisitive rogue, being the greatest detective and specializing in sneaky attacks. Observant and skulker feats. Gear is fun to think about. The Batmobile is a Tormentor, from BG:DiA. He also has a utility belt of holding, boots of striding and springing, bracer of batarangs, cloak of the bat, dread helm, dust of disappearance, eversmoking bottle, goggles of night, and a spies' murmur pair. I may have missed some. Alfred is also his personal (very high-level) artificer.
The rest of the Justice League is tough.
Superman really transcends D&D classes, and operates more according to monster rules.
Green Lantern is tough because his signature ability (creating objects from imagination) doesn't map neatly into 5e class abilities. If I could use 3-4e material, he'd be a Psion (Shaper).
I've actually put some thought into John Constantine, who seems like simultaneously a Fiend and Celestial Warlock (trading off when needed) and a Monster Slayer Ranger (favored foe-demons).
The Joker is a Mastermind Rogue, maybe some Archfey Warlock material, but not the flavor. You could model him as a Trickster Cleric, but I don't see it that way.
The Flash is tricky. His speed is tough to derive from classes. A neat idea would be to cast him as an Echo Knight Fighter, representing his ability to be in multiple places (near)-simultaneously.
The Green Arrow is an Arcane Archer, easily.
Dr. Fate is a middling Wizard normally, but a powerful Order Cleric when he has his helmet.
Dr. Strange is a Wizard, and would have fit well as a Psionic (before the UA guys took that away). He is known to consort with extraplanar entities. I daresay many of his powers come from his magic items. The Eye of Agamotto expands his psionic abilities, allows him to shift across planes, and gives him the ability to break illusions. If we want to make him a Monk, the Astral Self subclass fits his abilities nicely.
There are threads out there similar to this one, but I didn't want to participate in necromancy, so I decided to make a new one.
So, here's my analysis of certain superheroes and how they would be created in 5e.
I'll add more, and alter these as people comment.
Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
Spells, Monsters, Subclasses, Races, Arcknight Class, Occultist Class, World, Enigmatic Esoterica forms
There's a Youtuber whose entire channel is this. He's fun!
Canto alla vita
alla sua bellezza
ad ogni sua ferita
ogni sua carezza!
I sing to life and to its tragic beauty
To pain and to strife, but all that dances through me
The rise and the fall, I've lived through it all!
I've always seen Dr. Strange as more of a monk personally.
Wizard (Gandalf) of the Tolkien Club
I made some comments along these lines here.
