I bought the PHB in the marketplace (and some other books) and just after that I came back to the page and scrolling it down I see there is an option "Compendium Content Only" that has the same price.
I might be "dummy", but I read it and it is still not that much clear to me what is the main difference between that one and the content book itself.
Would someone, be kind to enlighten me a little more on this topic? I went through several threads in this section and others but I still did not find any other adventurer asking for that, so I decided to bring this topic.
I mean, I bought the PHB already but I still would like to know the difference, because I also bought the Lost Mines of Pahndelver and there is a difference in the price of the Book and the Compendium Content Only. It also says:
"..... unlocks the Lost Mines of Phandelver book in digital format in the game compendium with all the artwork and maps, cross-linking, and tooltips." while in the book description doesn't say anything about artwork and maps.
I hope that by having bought the book, I also have the artwork and maps and everything that has in the Compendium Content only.
For the first week the PHB was on sale for $19.99 so you bought it at the sale price. After the sale is over you see the price go up to$29.99. if a person just wants the content they can spend the $19.99, but will not receive any of the extra content like races, or backgrounds. Hopefully that explains it.
Ok..... may I think the Compendium Content Only is like a PDF only where you can see all the other information that was not for free before but you still can not use it to your character creation using other classes, races, etc such as Variant Human Trait or another domain for Clerics other than just the life domain?
I am checking the content for Lost Mines of Phandelver (which I also have the book) and I don't see much difference than any other digital content than a PDF. I can be wrong or I could expect something more "thrilling" like having access to a folder with some artwork such as images for the NPCs, monsters, and etc, as well as tokens for them that I could use/position over the map when I will DM the campaign for some players..... however I did not create any campaign yet.... maybe these resources will be available when a campaign is running.
Until now.... I was expecting something with the resources and dynamics like Fantasy Grounds or Roll20, but it is still early to say something because I am not playing.
Hi, I have an additional question. What classify as tools? Is the search bar a tool? Are the stat pages part of a tool? I'm not interested in the character builder for one. But the search tool and stats are important for me to be able to run my games fast and flexible.
"The Compendium Content bundle does not grant access to all the content’s options in the rest of the toolset, such as the searchable listings, character builder, or digital sheet." I don't know what searchable listings or digital sheets are, nor the tools that fall outside of this "such as" listing. I wish this purchase option just listed exactly what I do and don't get. Seems fair to know what you get before buying.
the listings are those coloured squares you see in the bar at the top. So if you buy the Compendium only, you do not get the Monster, Item and Spell listings as well as any of the options in the builder. You get those only as digital book.
Ah ok, I start to understand. So buying that option just adds a menu item under compendium, and its contents are displayed just like the basic rules is?

Hi my dear friends,

Pretty much, compendium only content literally ONLY adds that to the "compendium" link above, it should be noted the compendium is not however a pdf.
If you want tool access/interaction you must purchase the whole thing and you will get the compendium as well.
