The best way is to ask your groups how often they want to play and for how long, so you can plan.
E.g. if you want to play once per week and have four groups that meet once a month, those four games are fine. If they meet every two weeks, you should pick only two of those four games.
I am currently not working. I find that if I play more than 3 games a week, I get the games confused. Yes, I have the time to play 14 games, but I am not that addicted.

New player to Dnd here, and I'm curious, what do you all thing the maximum amount of games a person should be in is?

I'd try to keep it under 1 a day, maybe 1 extra on weekends.
But it is a rather subjective question, you know your own limits. For me, 1 weekly and 1 every other week is good. And I have 3 active characters.
