I play entirely on Roll20 with the sole exception of a friend's game that hosts on Fantasy Grounds instead (haaaate Fantasy Grounds :( Wish he'd switch). if there was cross-platform integration, I would think about it, but for now, I primarily buy physical books and am looking into the Roll20 options. If I were to ever throw money at DDB, it would be for more character sheets or something like that, but I haven't really even used the character creator beyond seeing how it works.
I will probably not buy any more physical books, except for maybe new core books, but even then it is debatable. I definitely will use DDB for modules/adventures.
Sort of leaning towards hard copy for rule books, DDB for modules. Will definitely get Xanathar's in limited edition hard copy because the cover art is awesome.
I'm a collector as of rpg books, so I'll buy them all. I also prefer the initial read through on paper. So I'll be getting both as DDB is really useful at the table, and the more features it gets the better! If I had to choose I'd go DDB, if they get a offline way to ensure I have then forever. The app could solve that, I guess.
DDB is trash, so I will continue to buy the books.
Just a little mad bro?

"I have found the answer to the meaning of life. You ask me what the answer is? You already know what the answer to life is. You fear it more than the strike of a viper, the ravages of disease, the ire of a lover. The answer is always death. But death is a gentle mistress with a sweet embrace, and you owe her a debt of restitution. Life is not a gift, it is a loan."
Really depends on how DDB deals with true homebrew, such as custom classes and such. I've purchased the PHB, MM, and DMG here, but I most likely won't be purchasing any of the other books here for a while, with the exception of adventure modules.
Even with search, it's still sometimes quicker for me to scan the physical book to find specific stuff. And since I play online most of the time, having DDB open in another windows takes up valuable screen real-estate. I haven't figured out a good workflow for this yet (and the iOS usage is terrible, so that's a no go).
I've found the browser usage to be fabulous, on my Surface. I haven't needed so many tabs open that it's been an issue. That said, I'm still hoping for a native desktop app that will have better "bookmarking" capabilities.
For iOS, I definitely agree that the web app isn't the best for everything. It seems fine for just browsing rules and such, and is only serviceable for other stuff. I'm definitely looking forward to an iOS app. If nothing else, I want local caching of the info, for traveling. Having all my D&D content available while stranded in BFE is worth the cost, in itself.
I'm getting ready to sell my spell cards. As soon as the offline app is available, I'll probably sell all of my hard covers. I'm a very digital person. I read books on Kindle. I read my comics on Comixology. I like the hard covers, but they take up a lot of space, both at the table and in storage. I'll use the money to finish purchasing the legendary bundle.
I purchased all the five main books (PHB, DMG, MM, SCAG, and Volo's) and I don't think I will be purchasing any more physical books with the exception of the adventure paths. I like being able to skim through the adventure if needed and I can always create whatever monsters the module has if I want to use them in Beyond.
I will most like y continue to buy both the physical books and digital content here on DDB simply because I am a book hoarder, love the smell and feel of real paper. However since I started using DDB to run my games I have not opened a physical book once... but that just proves how damned handy DDB is.
I love the concept of DDB, but I already have all the core books. I'm not willing to spend another chunk of cash to get the same information just to b in a little more convenient format. I'll still use the forums and if the time comes I win the lottery and can afford it I might jump on the band wagon.
Not going to read the thread, sorry got a lot on my plate and this is more an asking for opinion thread anyway.
Source books like the upcoming Xandars I will probably buy a physical copy of EVENTUALY, but I will defently buy on DDB if for no other reason the database unlocks and the charater generator makes things so much easier/streamlined.
Adventure books I do not plan on buying physical copies of anymore.
The diffrence? Sourbebooks go on the table, players and DM's alike can look though them. Adventures, those are pretty much for the DM so no need for a physical copy for players to look at on the table.

Are there any plans to perhaps use ISDN (I believe these are unique) from physical book for credits or to unlock the DDB version?
ISDNs are only unique for a specific edition of a book (e.g. 1st ed vs. 2nd ed printing, paperback vs. hardback). They are not unique per individual book. Regardless, even if there was some unique number for each individual book, like Matthias mentioned, this would be completely under the purview of WotC, not Curse.

Than why bother being here?
I use summon instrument to summon my kettle drum, hold it overhead like Donkey Kong, and chuck it at the nearest kobold.

Definitely not, physical books will never be brought (by me) to any of my sessions. Just my tablet, DDB, and MAYBE a laptop (MAYBE).
I'm really hoping the DDB app will have a great digital character sheet built in, so I can stop using fight club 5 for my sheets.
I love the idea of DDB and digital books, but I am kinda old school. I thought it over and decided to stick with the printed books for now.
