All I have been able to find is news articles from Polygon and Mashable (plus a few others) not anything official about it.
Are you interested in D&D reader/willing to pay for its content? I'm wondering if there will be cross-buy with D&D Beyond, because if so, this is a much more appealing product for me.
D&D Reader is not the DDB app. It is from a completely different company (a company called Dialect that makes the Dragon+ magazine app) and the two are not connected in any way, except that they both pay licencing fees to WotC to produce their products.
If you buy the PHB from D&D Beyond, you will not get it for "free" from D&D Reader because they are different companies. Likewise, if you buy the PHB from D&D Reader, you don't get anything from D&D Beyond.
Honestly, all those articles were poorly written, and WotC has not done a very good job of explaining their strategy to end users who are being confused by all the options. It's like they were taking notes from Google and their 5 billion different messaging apps. :-/

"Orcs are savage raiders and pillagers with stooped postures, low foreheads, and piggish faces with prominent lower canines that resemble tusks." MM p245 (original printing) You don't OWN your books on DDB: WotC can change them any time. What do you think will happen when OneD&D comes out?
You might want to keep in mind that DDB's response to the DDR app has been, "We cannot comment on it at this time." That usually means there's things going on in the background that people are unaware of. DDB has always tried to integrate with other partners, so stand by for further information/news as the DDR app release date gets closer.

Speaking of release dates.... anything you can share? (If you just say, "Soon," that would be okay by me.) :-)

I noticed that too. There seems to be something going on behind the scenes. But maybe not. :)

Well, then, you might want to let the higher-ups at Curse know that if the DDB app ends up being the DDR app, those of us who purchased the books on DDB had better get them unlocked at no additional cost on DDR (since we were promised offline use at no additional cost) or they will have a revolt on their hands, not to mention incredibly bad PR.
