Does anybody know if wizards of the coast, or just the D&D team, have any plans of reintroducing the colossal great wyrms to D&D in any official capacity? I really miss the idea of dragons so old, large, and powerful as to be as large as an entire keep, and as powerful to sunder it to the ground by itself.
I love this idea too, and in my homebrew campaign, I use ancient dragon stat, slightly buffed and with a bunch of spell cause come on dragon are also spellcaster to emulate this great wyrms stage of their life.
For the most powerful dragons, I simply give them spellcasting via the variant in the MM. Also, remember, that young dragons with spellcasting can be more powerful than old ones without it.

I wish WotC would reintroduce great wyrm level dragons to 5e. However, I’m content to homebrew them. I’ve considered giving them full casting lists or Mythical actions.

A recent UA involved dragon themed subclasses, so it is possible that a dragon themed book might come out. However, there is now concrete proof either way, and speculation around UA is very unreliable.

A fool pulls the leaves. A brute chops the trunk. A sage digs the roots.
It's fairly simple to just scale up an existing dragon -- if we assume a great wyrm dragon should be +6 CR, using the tables in the DMG, that's just
HP: +225/AC +2 (each step past 20 is +45 hp, so we gave 5 steps of HP; each +2 AC is also one step)
Strength +4, Con +4, Cha +4; attack bonus will be either +3 or +4, same for save DC
Damage: Normally +6 CR (past 20) is +108 DPR, but we're on the high side for attack so we'll set it to only +90 (+270 over 3 rounds). Given how breath weapons seem to scale, I'd probably give it +30 breath weapon damage (worth +60), so we need +210 damage over 2x bite, 4x claw, 9x tail. I suggest about +13 on all attacks, doubled for bite (+13 to physical and also +13 to elemental); we wind up at +281 damage over 3 rounds.

Thanks for the reply Friend! Like to believe there will be more dragons coming in the future!
