It's amazing how many people want a return back to just 3-4 classes.
If 6e went in that direction I'd either stick on 5e or would jump ship to pathfinder 2e. I'm in the more classes camp, and generally think 15-20 total, spread over 2-3 books is ideal. If I went to pathfinder I'd have to bite the bullet of no decent digital tool, but it would be worth it over playing a dummy game with 4 chess pieces to pick from.
Same here.

I agree with Comrade_Jenkens, too. The original 4 classes have been done to death over the past 40+ years. I way prefer some of the newer, cooler (IMHO) concepts, like Artificers, Warlocks, Paladins, and Swordmages.

Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:

The 5e Paladin and the 4e Swordmage excite me. I also love the 5e Bard.
I love the 5e Wizard, but would probably prefer seeing the Wizard split into separate classes, each with its own thematic spell list.
The Dex Fighter and Str Fighter should probably split into different classes.
The Cleric is too setting dependent.
I suppose Rogue will have its fans.
But generally, I prefer thinking beyond the classic foursome.
