I responded to a poster about the best subclass for a Spy. That got me to thinking.
I have crafted a world where a particular crime syndicate has been around, involving itself at the highest level and profiting from human affairs, pretty much as long as humans have been on the continent (humans arrived long after Elves and Dwarves). This syndicate has sometimes allied itself with the the various human gov't's when their goals aligned.
This group is vast, and has insinuated itself into all areas of human endeavour, all geographical areas, at its highest political levels. Clearly, over the centuries, it has had many leaders of the upper echelon cabal. So my question/ comment: The more I think about this, why would a Rogue be the leader of such an organization? Are there other classes that are better suited to running such a vast and intricate organization?
If you had to choose one class/subclass to run a massive crime syndicate, one that recognizes that its long-term best interests could sometimes be to topple governments, sometimes support governments, sometimes start wars, sometimes end them, and everything in between, what would that class/subclass be?
