I'm a dad of a 6 year old I want to play (not dm) but it has to be after hours because my time with my son is precious to me. I am interested in a one-night-a-week but it has to happen late after the little one goes to bed. contact me at kackyman@yahoo.com (posted May 30 2021)
Hello! I am in a similar situation. I am new to D&D and am really excited to play.
Game: D&D 5e Group preferred: Online Experience: New Location/Timezone: EST Availability: Any day after 9:00 p.m. Preferred role: Player Game style: I am new to the game so I would say I am looking for more of a casual style gameplay.
This reply is directed at both M1j0ch and Hopelesstrinity. Looks like we may have a group of three. Let's check some things and work out some details. Like:
Time zone / country you reside (I am Central time /USA)
Favored night (s) of the week to play (I like weekdays w Tues, Wed, or Thurs night as my favored but can do weekends if needed)
time to begin / how many hours (9pm - 12:30am latest)
online connection (zoom or whatever for me)
We'll start there. Differences in any of these things might mess it up. Hope we can figure something out.
Casual game sounds good. I'm new to playing. I've listed to a lot of live games on podcast so that has been helpful. I recomend it. Teaches the game while being very entertaining. There are lots out there.
Casual sounds great! I have watched and listened to a lot of Critical Role as well as read a lot of articles here on DND Beyond. As much as I enjoy Critical Role I think I would enjoy something a little less serious in the roleplaying/back story creation aspect of it for my first go. I have been wanting to play for years but can't get any friends interested enough in playing. I got a group of friends together for one session of Mines of Phandelver but that was it.
Time zone / country you reside: EST USA
Favored night (s) of the week to play: I have a weird work schedule so I am available mostly on weeknights but weekends could work every now and again.
time to begin / how many hours: 9 - 12:30 a.m. sounds good to me.
Sounds like my kind of group. Haven't played since I was a kid, but definitely have the itch. Have been creating characters just for the fun and backstory creativity.
USA/Oklahoma/CST
Any weeknight but Thursday is good, 8-midnight CST works
Mind if I jump in too? This sounds like it might be exactly the group I'm looking for. I have three kids to put to bed and don't work a typical 9-5 so it's hard to find a group that fits my schedule. Thought of playing many times over the years but never actually taken any steps to do it.
Game: D&D 5e Group preferred: Online Experience: New Location/Timezone: EST Availability: Sunday - Wednesday 9:00 pm, Thursday - Saturday 10:00 pm Preferred role: Player Game style: Casual
Man I didn't think my post would get this much interest. Very happy but now I have to go ask my wife if I can make it work hahahaa. Heck she may even want to play.
Here's my suggestion. I think since we are talking about a small play window on whatever night (because of stupid work the next day), maybe the eastern time zoners can connect with each other and the central time zoners can connect. As well as any other time zones we get in the future. Not that we can't all play together whenever it works It just looks like we'll get enough interest.
Moms and Dads are itchin to get their roll on! Yeah baby!! (shhhhh don't wake the baby).
ohhhh and you don't have to have kids to reply to this thread. If a group works it works. doesn't matter who's in it.
If there is someone interested DMing some newbies im in. My brother is also interested in playing. Tuesday night after 9pm works for us. I am a truck driver so my nights at home are different. We are central. Please let me know. looks like there are a lot of us parents in the same boat. thanks
Heya, that is the exact schedule I've been looking for.
Game: D&D 5e Group preferred: Online Experience: New Location/Timezone: EST Availability: Any day except Tuesdays and Thursdays after 9pm Preferred role: Player, but can DM if really needed to be. Game style: Casual
Looks like quite a few of us! It makes sense then how Kriegjaeger said we should probably split by time zone. It seems that most posters are either Central or Eastern. Do we have an interested DM for both time zones?
So I'm going to put a spreadsheet together with responses to try to suggest folks with similar items. If you haven't provided prefereces (days of week/times/timezone etc) please follow up with that. if you want to DM please let me know the max amount of players you want to take on. I'm going to keep it simple and no one is locked into any group. I'll take on the temporary role to help get people connected and then folks can get their specific groups going and do whatever they want. I'm excited.
This is exactly what I've been look for lol. Happy to see so many in same situation.

This is fantastic! The wife and I have been itching to get in a game together (I dm on fridays) so I hope this works in getting us a group!
I do not know if I am too late to respond to this posting. I am a DM and had a game lined up, but my players bailed out: they were all noobs. I have been playing and DM'ing since 1982. I love most things about 5e and wanted to play but could not find a DM. So I have a prepared game. This technology is new to me, but I am learning it quickly.
From the schedules I saw posted, compared to mine, how about Monday night? I am on the West Coast, so the time difference will work in your favor: I can DM after everyone's kids are asleep. My daughter is grown and half-moved out. My surprise child, my son, is autistic so he is still home; I base my schedule around the times when I am alone with him. My husband passed away not long ago, and that makes me eager to game again.
I am serious about gaming. If you guys want me as a DM, I am steadfast and hope the same from you. The last adventure I DM'd ran a long time. Most of my gamers were young, and they were new to DnD, so I know how to tailor a game to suit.
My name is Nedka. You can reach me at Kitje Berg #1639 (be sure to include the spaces). Email at coronatemple@gmai.com
I hope to hear from you guys.
