Are we going to make characters when we all meet up or do we want to pre create and send to DM for review? Just trying to figure out what we are going to do. I would like to play a war priest.
Would probably be best to have character ideas, but leave the actual creation to when we meet? That way we can be a somewhat cohesive party instead of having gaping holes while some people are playing the exact same thing. That's what I'd suggest at any rate, but I guess it's really up to the DM (who is the DM, btw?)
I'd also like to play if possible, as I'm running a campaign on Sundays and don't really have the time to prep/run a second. I'm partial to rogues, myself.
At most, I'd be willing to do a rotation where we change DMs every session, but I have no idea how such a scheme would actually work out in practice.

I think that would work best. I could start off if you would like. We could have our character join the team but is run by another person mainly for combat purpose/support. However, has no action in the rp of the game. As we rotate each time we would all be growing together and have a chance to play sort campaigns. I am thinking something along the lines of building a adventure company (kind of like acquisitions incorporated theme). This will allow us all a hand in how the adventure company/team turns out. Also would provide a chance for those who are looking for short term to join us in building a prestigious company.
Just some thoughts. What do you all think? Anyone have any other ideas?
If we do rotate, smaller jobs/quests in a shared sandbox rather than an overarching plotline makes the most sense. As for what happens with the DM's character, perhaps leave that up to everyone individually; some may not like giving away character control to other players (so instead their character is just taking a sabbatical or something during that particular job, bumming around / doing downtime stuff). Is the plan to still meet up this Saturday?

The only flaw I see us coming across in you ideal for DM Character is the balance would not be there. If we have the DM's character travel along with he/she will grow with the team. We don't need off balance sheet in game. Would cause too many arguments. This Saturday i can't meet. I am serving at church. Maybe next Saturday at 2pm sound good.
Also I talked with the guys at Imperial Outpost and they don't feel comfortable with us using this program for running the game. Their reasoning seemed flawed, but understandable. Either way, we should meet very soon.
True, I didn't think of the XP issue with that. I'm all for using this site anyway, the only way for it to get better is for it to get used. I still have physical copies of all the books to consult at the table, but having a searchable database is amazingly helpful when it comes time to actually play the game. Less time wasted paging through books.
I have been playing on and off since the '80s. Haven't played 5e yet. I live in the north valley, next to north mountain park.
Would love to find a group close by. I haven't DMed in years so would like to be a player first to get back into the game then would be happy to try DMing again.
Edit: I should read the whole thread. Looks like it died, last post over a month ago

If Imperial Outpost Games in Glendale is "close by" enough for you, we're trying to organize a meeting this Saturday at 2pm (probably).
If I don't hear back from people who've previously expressed interest by tomorrow evening, I'm going to spam out PMs to everyone \:D/
There are multiple D&D groups/games going on a The Orc's Lair in Youngtown near Sun City. You can find the schedules on Facebook and Meetup in case anyone is interested.
I'm in Phoenix proper and interested in playing on either Tuesdays or Friday nights. Have xp as both pc and dm. Been playing on and off for about 14 years. Have dm guide as well as several different players guides that I could bring

first rule of D&D: keep the cleric alive!

For the Saturday meeting, I don't think anyone had been elected yet :)
I would like to play if possible. Currently running a campaign right now. I was thinking I would play a cleric

Well, I haven't DMd in 20 years, so if anyone else joins who would like to do it, that would probably be a better experience for all :)
That said, I would be would willing as a last resort. I do plan on DMing, but I was going to practice on my family and friends first.

Reminder post to everyone following this thread: this Saturday at 2pm still good for everyone? I'm planning on being there.

Hi Austin,
I started looking for a game again. I'm located at 7th street and Glendale. My car recently broke down so I am stuck on the bus now.
Let me know what you think.
