It's a tricky one. You can try searching with Google, Facebook and a few other websites for meet-ups and the like. Another good way is to use WotC's store/event locator. Worst case, if there aren't groups/sessions ran from there, perhaps they can help put you in contact with the right people. If there's anything near you, at least - I haven't got any, which is why I'm searching on this forum, which is also another valid method.
Meetup.com is a great resource as well. The game store where I play on Saturdays advertises every single one of its events on Meetup.com, and I've found some other local groups there as well.

Be on the lookout for niche stores, small bookstores, collector stores and the like. (You know the ones where the people working there are hanging out and will carry on a real conversation with you...) Many organize their own events regularly and even if they don't, they're usually pretty knowledgeable about people actively playing in your area and may be able to pass on information one way or the other.
Hey i was wondering how do i find people to play with because i have very few friends that play and i am already in a group with them. What do you do?

You could also look into groups that play D&D over the internet through Discord or Skype etc.

Good luck!
Meetup and playing AL through boardgame cafes have been the most consistent and easiest way to find groups for me
