Game: D&D (5E because I have the resources) but happy to do homebrew Group preferred: Online (D&D Beyond/Discord etc.) Experience: Total Noob Location/Timezone: UK/GMT Availability: Mon/Wed/Fri evenings 8PM-late, weekends whenever Preferred role: general magic nerd (Cleric/Bard/Druid/Sorcerer/Warlock/Wizard) but willing to branch out Game style: balanced style as I'm new (RP, but not taking things too seriously, combat, but not fight-loot-repeat etc.). Preferably over 18s just so I know people will (hopefully) behave maturely and things don't get out of hand.
Hi,
I've never actually played D&D. I like to think I've got a good grasp of the mechanics of 5E, and I've set up characters using D&D Beyond, but I can't be sure that I understand it until I play it. I'm really interested in joining/creating an online group, as I live in the middle of nowhere and there aren't any groups that I know of near me. If you are also less experienced and want to learn together through playing, want to try out DMing for the first time, or are more experienced and have a lot of patience, then contact me on this thread or message me on Discord at wiccaman#2054.
I'm also a published poet and writer, so if anyone needs help with backstories or lore for a homebrew campaign, I'm happy to help out!
OK, interest noted! I've been in touch with one other person as of right now, so we're definitely not the only ones. I'll give it a week or so and then maybe put together a new post that can narrow down times/requirements etc.
I'm also in the UK, likewise I live in a bit of a remote spot with few local players around. I'm an experienced DM (since 1E but currently 5E) and I enjoy teaching new people the game. However I've never done it online before so that would be a bit new for me. Thought I'd take a look on here, and hey presto: there's your post...
Similar to you - I'd be interested in running a game for "grown ups", RP (insofar as people are comfortable of course), relatively serious (but certainly not humourless!)
My availability more or less matches yours, except that daytimes are tricky even at weekends.
Thanks for expressing interest, though bear in mind that being 5 hours behind our timezone might present difficulties. What times can you do? At this stage I'm imagining a weekday from around 8PM BST (GMT+1 because of Daylight Savings).
Thanks for all the interest! If everyone is happy using Discord to communicate, I'll create a server tomorrow and stick an invite in this thread. If not, let me know what platform you'd prefer to use and we'll work something out. There we can thresh out the details and get things going.
This is amazing! It takes me a month just to arrange a meeting with friends, but you can assemble a D&D party in a day!
So I'm going to post a poll with some prospective time slots, and then we can figure out what time/s the most people can make. If you I also think it would be worthwhile that those who will be playing in the group should have a discussion of what our expectations of the game would be- how we will play the game, what we want to get out of it, maybe what setting we want to use, things like that. I'm not sure in what medium we want to have that discussion, but we could create a Roll20 game and use the text chat or VOIP there.
Well it would be a good idea (imho) to set up a discord server for chat, then use Roll20 for the actual game. I can set up the Roll20 side if you are happy to do the discord bit?

Hello I'm pretty much the same as you have been looking on the site for a couple weeks but can't seem many GMT people posting.
OK, interest noted! I've been in touch with one other person as of right now, so we're definitely not the only ones. I'll give it a week or so and then maybe put together a new post that can narrow down times/requirements etc.
Thank you, I appreciate it.

Also a noob looking for a group, but I'm in the US. EST.
Fantastic! Thank you so much for expressing interest. This is coming together faster than I expected.
As it stands, that's three potential players and a potential DM. I'll be in touch ASAP with more concrete details.

Haha if you are still looking for players I'd be interested in joining an online game mainly on weekends but I am GET.
Huge noob over here as well, but if the sessions ever steer toward weekends I would be interested too!
Damn I get home at 5 EST, I'd be a couple hours off for week days
That's a shame. If it's any consolation, I gather that there are plenty of US timezone players on DDB that you could probably group up with.
This looks good!Any objection to / thoughts on using Roll20 (or similar eg Fantasy Grounds)? Should make life easier, and Roll20 has video built in.
Sounds good to me. I'm not familiar with it, but I will take a look when I can.
Hi,
I'm an absolute novice, never played a game of D&D in my life. Also from the UK, would love to get involved in a game!
So I'm going to post a poll with some prospective time slots, and then we can figure out what time/s the most people can make. I can absolutely do that. I'll post an invite code ASAP
Looks like things are really coming together, but I have one question looking at the poll. What are the estimations for the length of the sessions?
