Game: D&D 5e 2014 or 2024 Group preferred: Online Experience: 5yrs Player/3 yrs DM/ 7 yrs total Location/Timezone: CDT/CST Availability: M/W/Th/F/Sun (evenings preferred, but not a deal breaker.) Preferred role: Player Game style: I've played in many a campaign, run my own successfully, and I've found I really enjoy games where the players are invested in their characters and enjoy the game outside game time too. Not a big fan of joke characters because the gimmick wears off in 3-5 sessions and the player typically starts rolling up another gimmick so I typically prefer a little more serious games.
Type of Player: I enjoy building my characters into the world. I love world building so it sort of goes hand in hand. I also tend to let the story shape my character as opposed to have a script for the build from the get go. I find the authenticity of a world shaped character to be far more enjoyable than just fiending for that next level up where I'll finally get that super awesome XYZ thing.
Setting preferences: Well built and developed Homebrew settings are great. I've been fortunate to experience a good few. The number of half baked, copy cat worlds greatly outnumber the truly great ones however, so please forgive me if I'm initially skeptical. I personally tend toward established worlds in my own DMing.
I have a campaign starting soon that is homebrew. Ive been working on it for the past two years. It's more RP but have some combat and exploration. It is Sundays at 8:30 pm CST. 2024 rules.
Hey DMHeadhunter! It sounds like you’d be a great fit for our community. We’re an 18+ LGBTQAI+ friendly Westmarch-style group where multiple DMs run games in their own worlds, so there’s plenty of opportunity to explore different settings and styles.
All characters start at level 3 with a 35 Point Buy, and you’re welcome to create and play multiple characters. We use the 2014 5e ruleset (with full official content shared through D&D Beyond).
While our style makes direct worldbuilding integration a little more challenging than in a fixed campaign, many players still find creative ways to grow their characters naturally with the stories they experience. Games run daily across many time zones, with a mix of combat, roleplay, and exploration, and we also offer Play by Post and text RP for those who enjoy deeper between-session immersion.
