I think portrait frames are definitely better than the backgrounds. The backgrounds seem like such a poorly implemented feature that they should just let people up load their own background images.
Sure, cause they just have a couple terabytes extra space around they can give up on (not to mention how they would be responsible if people upload sensitive content as background.) So, theoretically a good idea, but practically it's not.
They already allow users to upload character headshots and homebrew images; unlike homebrew, characters are limited on free accounts (6 maximum) so people with more are actively paying so that should cover some extra storage for those that actually upload images. Plus storage is relatively cheap, especially in bulk.
If they're concerned about sensitive images being uploaded, well you can already do that for your character portraits; while backgrounds could be worse (bigger images), they could just add a report button to the corner of the sheet for anyone viewing it that isn't the owner?
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Former D&D Beyond Customer of six years: With the axing of piecemeal purchasing, lack of meaningful development, and toxic moderation the site isn't worth paying for anymore. I remain a free user only until my groups are done migrating from DDB, and if necessary D&D, after which I'm done. There are better systems owned by better companies out there.
I have unsubscribed from all topics and will not reply to messages. My homebrew is now 100% unsupported.
Can we get more Frames, Themes and backdrops for those of us who aren’t subscribed? I do wish I could subscribe, but can’t (Unrelated to DDB), and I really like the character sheet customization. It doesn’t even have to be a lot, just a few. I especially like the frames the most.

The problem is that it's trumpeted as a subscriber reward but it's so badly handled it makes the whole system look flawed instead of something to look forward to.
Themes are literally a pallete swap and a change of one value in the CSS. So as a subscriber perk I place zero value in them. They should simply be part of the standard customisation. Backdrops are poorly implemented to the point of uselessness. So again, zero value add.
So that leaves frames and dice. Last time they did dice they considered it so generous they didn't do anything for the following month. Plus as you still can't have a per character dice and they sell them on the store they've aren't bringing their best and you tend to stick with one and not change. As for the frames, they can be hit and miss. Particuarly when they cover a lot of the portrait with them.
You know, I wish I could help out the Devs, but I am in high school, and my only coding experience is basic HTML and CSS Coding, Along with that block coding you use in scratch. But I love all of the work, and I kinda understand how hard it is to make this stuff. I do have a thread that I want them to see, What do you love about DDB? Keep up the good work!
I don't even comprehend the purpose of a subscription. What does it do? I already spend hundreds of dollars on e-books.
D&DB doesn't have a VTT, or even a searchable LFG tool. It doesn't actually do anything other than being the best library for books. I suppose maybe if I was interested in arguing with strangers on the internet, I might venture into the forums, but I'm not, so I don't.
Hasbro should just buy Roll20 if they want subscription money.
I actually stumbled upon this looking for the MoM release time. It's the 16th, and I can't see it yet. I've only been waiting 4 months already, I suppose a few more hours won't matter much.

Yeah, apart from organising campaigns, creating characters and sharing them with your DM or other players, creating and sharing homebrew items, having a good search tool over the content spread over the published books and managing encounters, what did the Romans D&D Beyond do for us?
How fortunate you didn't have to venture into the forums to state that you are not venturing into the forums.
Aren't the July perks the Clockwork dice? We got Vecna backgrounds last month.

*sigh* I wish I could subscribe, but I can’t due to reasons not related to DDB. But good work with the frames!
It pronounced Den Sake. It is not Japanese.
Website character sheet not working fix (Hopefully)
Semi-Expert at homebrew, just ask for my help.
DnD Beyond is such a Giving group. I truly hope there are no changes when this takeover is done.

We've stopped this OGL madness, but stay vigilant, they tried it once, they can try it again.
And yay… pink fuzzy dice… 🤦🏻♂️
Wasn't Acquistions inc and Mine of philandering supposed to be free today too?

Cool, thanks. It's still not showing up in the app
Check the "Not seeing your copy?" box at the end of the Phandelver section on the page linked above...

As per the post immediately above yours, we got Vecna themed stuff last month.
August '22 Character Sheet Backgrounds are so low quality that u can just see the pixels. Quality dropped immensely!
