I have used safari and chrome both, on multiple characters. Using an iPad Pro that is fully updated. I get the old blank pencil and paper character sheet.

This is not happening on my MacBook Pro. The PDF export is fine there, it is only happe ning on my iPad Pro, which is the thing I use for game nights. So it is not an exclusive IOS bug as that link suggests.
I would really like to thank you all for your help.! I found that downloading Adobe Acrobat Reader PDF app has solved the issue in a roundabout, albeit, effective manner. As some one who is new to Mac and it’s applications, I was unaware of the differences between MacOS and IOS. By downloading the Adobe Reader app for iPad Pro, I can now open the “blank sheet “ when I attempt to export, and open it with this app in the drop down menu. All the info is actually there although it looks blank, and opening it in the app reveals the text and images.
This has solved the issue and I can view and print them this way. I hope this helps others struggling with this IOS bug on the iPads!
Thanks again for being a patient, supportive community.
My initial feeling was that I really don't like this update. After a while using it, I still really do not like this update. Sure, there were thing I wish I could update for the old one (I wanted to be able to choose the order of the tiles so I could put the things I use most at the top and other things toward the bottom) but I started using D&D Beyond because the layout gave me something that having a paper sheet did not. In this new version you basically gave me back the character sheet I never liked, this one just does some math for me. The previous interface used nice colors and icons to divide items and make it easy to visually find what you needed. Now everything looks the same, it's like a used a character sheet and a typewriter. My ask is not that you roll everything back, there are some really nice functional improvements that came with it, but please rethink the visual aspects of what is going on here. Get rid of the overly busy and distracting framing and bring back meaningful visual indicators to the UI.
General feedback: In our own play, the new character sheets have worked extremely well for both play and reading/planning in the downtime. This is not to say that it couldn't be further improved -- I hope and trust you will -- but I wanted to share my view that this is a big step forward that, for me, certainly justifies the substantial investment I've made in this service. Nice work. Please keep the updates and improvements coming and I expect I'll be an active subscriber as long as 5e is supported.
Too be honest, I was very excited for the character sheet revamp. I have been waiting for the ability to sort my characters by name and/or level.
I'm not sure why it's so difficult to implement?

It isn't difficult to implement by any means. The fact of the matter is we have a large list of things that are relatively simple to implement. We can't do all of those easy things simultaneously, so they have to work through the list as efficiently as we can.
Having said that, we intend to be able to place some focus on character organization in the near future - we'll keep everyone updated.
Hi there. Thanks for taking the time to work on the character sheet export feature. I found a problem that hasn't gone away though: some text is being cut off on the PDF sheet if it is too long for the text box. I was hoping this was going to be fixed because it kind of renders the sheets a little unhelpful. I also noticed that things like prepared spells, spell slots, hp and hit dice are left blank on the sheet export but I would have preferred it to be filled in. I DM for a campaign and use DND Beyond to manage my players character sheets. They are fairly new players so I do a lot of inventory management myself to make sure there sheets are correct and would like to be able to print paper sheets off for them (as they prefer using them) and simply nip into DND Beyond to update them for the next game. Would be really helpfully if I could export them with current hit points, used spell slots, prepared spells and hit dice filled in.

Any plans soon to add sheets for companions/familiars/etc?
Yes, this is in the works. Guessing it's coming fairly soon based on the dev streams but hard to say how soon is Soon (tm)
DM: The Cult of the Crystal Spider (Currently playing Storm King's Thunder)
Player: The Knuckles of Arth - Lemire (Tiefling Rogue 5/Fighter 1)

Just glad it's still in the works. I hope it's not on the back-burner now that the main Character Sheet revamp is already out.
Is there going to be a feature to actually put stuff into a bag of holding?
I don't think that's ever been totally clarified so AFAIA, only the devs know how or what form the containers will take.
Honestly, I'd just be happy with an 'Off character' storage option.

I am so excited about being able to organize my characters... either alphabetically or by level ascending and descending. This should be an easy fix.

Which browser are you using?
Safari, and just tried it on Chrome. Both link a blank character sheet of the old style export with no information in it.
In that case, you need to make sure that your PDF reader is working properly for PDF fillable forms.
I know some have had problems with Safari, we other other users can help you better, but you can start from here:
